Title: Old DOS games released into browser
Post by: Rincewind1 on January 11, 2015, 01:32:51 PM
Too lazy to use Dosbox? Finding old files too hard? Abandonware files zipped in 50 parts and one is corrupted while it took you 5 days to download it from Nepalese server any way? Well apparently Web Archives released a hugeass archive of games that you can play online, with a handy Dosbox plugin taking care of all. A lot of them are apparently demo versions (sadly), but there is Kingmaker!

Meh. I tried using that site and all I get is the spinning disk symbol every time. Yeah, I have the latest Firefox, have unblocked cookies for the site, have Javascript running. Still nothing.

I used to play Centurion Defender of Rome for hours on the Amiga. I think it was a better gaming platform than the early PCs and certainly less fiddly to mess about with, what with trying to eke 600k of memory together from config.sys or whatever it was.

Can you snapshot the games or is there no save facility?
