I need more.  Love the fucking things.  Love 'em love 'em love 'em.

Anyway, I'm trying to find a nice halfling figure, with a shortsword and a shielf.  Best I've seen so far is from Reaper:

Dar Dimplefoot

Looks a bit lame, though.

Then there's Dobbin Sackville

Looks better, but the sword is a bit too large.

Then there are these possibilities:

Hellakin
Dingo
Pip
Fitch Coincatcher

Each of these needs a shield to suit my purpose.  Maybe I could glue on the one from Weapons Pack 3 -- might be kinda big, though.

I'm favouring Dingo, myself.  If he had a shield already it would be a slam dunk (and if I could find him on the rack at my local game shop, I'd have bought him already, shield or no shield).  Normally I prefer figures done by Sandra Garrity, but her halflings don't seem up to snuff.

I've only been looking at Reaper Minis so far.  Anybody got a better place/company to look for miniatures? :ponder:

iirc, there is another batch of pewter minis...I think Warlords is their name. I've not looked through them, but I saw them the last time I was at the local shop.

Might be something to look at?

Warlord?

You mean like http://www.reapermini.com/gallery/warlord ?

I've looked through them before.  I own Griffon, a really nice (hefty!) figure.  I was hoping to pick up a Snorri, but some lucky bucker snatched up the last one from my local game store before I could.

There's some real beauties in that line.  In fact, Dingo (the figure I mentioned as my favourite choice) is from Reaper's Warlord Mercenaries section.

I think I'd grab Dobbin and cut/file the sword down to a managable size. (not sure how it's done, but I'm guessing there should be a way.)

Take care Nothingland. You were always one of the most ridiculously good-looking sites on the internets, and the web too. I\'ll miss you.  -"Derek Zoolander MD" at a site long gone.

Well crap, that's a pretty good idea.

I could snip the sword in half and put a new point on the end.  It's a little thick, but my knife is sharp, I could trim that too.  It would be a little difficult whittling it down and keeping the lines straight, but I've done harder modifications before.

Thanks cnathstuff, I was too busy thinking of how I could glue things onto other things to come up with that.

Well, smack my face and call me Sherly. I thought the Warlord stuff was not Reaper. Sorry!

So did I, until I found their website a while ago.

What other companies are left making miniatures?

SpikeyFreak

//www.gamesworkshop.com is the biggest.

http://www.rackham-store.com/boutique_us/liste_rayons.cfm?code_lg=lg_us is another.

You could always make your own shield from greenstuff/plasticard/other bits if you're planning on painting it.

Check out this site: //www.coolminiornot.com and this site: //www.warseer.com for painting and modding advice.

Tried that once.  The stuff I make is always too big. :( My sculpture of a carrion crawler was a huge* disappointment.

*enormous! gigantic! massive! it was really really big

Does Ral Partha still make D&D minis?

I believe that Ral Partha is no longer with us.  Most of the D&D miniatures market (other than the pre-painted stuff) is taken by Reaper.

You used to be able to get Ral Partha stuff (or at least some of the old sculpts) at http://discounthobby.com

They have a lot of weird/70s style stuff I dont see anywhere else. I think the Ral Partha stuff is all gone though.
Download Secret Santicore! (10MB). I painted the cover :)

"Weird?!"  "WEIRD?!?!"

That 70s style stuff is, like, ...well it's like your Grampa!  You don't call Grampa weird because he's old and wrinkled and doesn't look perfect!

You call him weird 'cause he's a 90-year-old pedophile.

...then again, ooh, look:  goats!

But those aren't 70s style.  They're more of a 90s thing.
