This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Anybody know enough about HeroClix to be able to tell me if the old figures work with the 'new' rules?  Is it essentially the same ruleset, backwards-compatible, etc?

Supposedly, Yes,

However at current HEROCLIX tournaments I've heard that you can only use the newer figures that have cards to go with them.

Which seems strrange to me since the original idea back in 2000/2001 with both MAGE KNIGHT and HEROCLIX was that you could just look at the base of a figure and know its abilitities if you were used to the game.  There wasn't supposed to be a need for an additional card for each fig.

Thanks, Ed - that jibes with what I'm finding online...  official tournaments = non-retired figs only.  Which is fine by me, since I don't care a lick about tournaments. :)

....speaking of HEROCLIX......

I just recently got a ton of them for a bargain price. Which is really cool, because I'm weird and like the 'generic' figs better than the superhero or iconic figs. This way I didn't have to wade through lots of booster boxes or con bins to find what I needed.

What I'm always looking for :

Gotham or Metropolis Police officers Swat Team members.

ANY SWAT TEAM members from either the DC or Marvel versions.

Any Troopers /soldiers in uniforms or armor.

Figs like "Gotham Detective"

The 'Con Artist',  'criminal', 'Henchman', 'lackey', and 'thug' figures.
