I've been playing Disgaea 2 lately. It is so awesome.
I played a lot of Disgaea 1 when it came out, and Disgaea 2 is more great fun.
Disgaea 2 is definitely more of the same. But it's a LOT more. Plus there are hundreds of little tweaks to the system this time around. Healers can gain XP by healing people, the random item world dungeons now have extra random factors (my favorite being when chicken pirates attack the level). They've added summons (which use cell phones).
My favorite Part about Disgaea is the fact it scales into such ridiculous levels. My level 1218 Fighter Wirlwind Strikes his enemy for 21,316 in the first hit and 26,112 in the second. The game fully expects you to twink and find the most ridiculous power combos imaginable, and it (sometimes) hits you with them right back.
So is anyone else playing (has played) Disgaea?

Wow. I loved the story of the first one, but the gameplay was pretty rough for me because of that single issue right there. My warriors were all in their hundreds of levels, but my healers were in the dozens and totally left behind.
I'll wait for the price to come down in a month or two on eBay and totally pick it up then. For now, though, my money's being saved for OKAMI and YAKUZA.

Just PS2. I wish they'd put out a game for the Nintendo DS myself.
KJ, have you beaten the beast yet? I'm interested in picking it up (as well as a PS2 to play it on) and I wanted to know if it's good all the way through or if it falls apart at the end.
Well, if you're looking for a storyline, this game isn't the place.
I'm about 60 hours into the game and I have a while to go, you will never be able to do everything in this game :)
However, they continue to add more and more options and things to do as the game goes on :)
One day I will get to the Land of Carnage.
The worst thing about the game is when you finally destroy one of the demonlords (the guy with the lightsabre whose name escapes me) and he just says - "you beat me so I'm gonna destroy the planet"
KABOOM. game over.
Well...there is something like 12 different endings. Has anyone played the PSP one yet?
