This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Commodore is back baby.

It looks like Commodore is coming back into the PC market with a huge bang this spring, and this bad mother  is now on my next computer wish list.

Wow, just WOW.

Looks like they are using the commodore name and making IBM Compatiable games.   At least that is what I am getting from their pretty bare website.

Michael M

wow.

you could save on heating bills just by turning this thing on...

i wonder if their keyboards will have the commodore key instead of the windows key? =P

It's not the next Amiga :(

But I guess it'll do...

Its just a fancified PC, not a REAL Commodore. :( But at least it'll have an emulator built-0in and comes with old games. :)

Yeah baby! Now we have an alternative to overpriced gaming rigs! OTHER overpriced gaming rigs! WOO HOO!

Still, just the commodore logo on them made me almost weep with nostalgia.

Yeah I am sure they are hoping the nostalgia will help them and I am sure that was their reasoning for using the name.

Dammit, you reminded me how much I loved my Amiga 500. :bawling:

It's sad, if Commodore had been run correctly and had abandonded everything but the Amiga and pushed it hard it makes you wonder if things would be different now.

They would have at least lasted longer that's for sure.   I am reading the book One The Edge: The Spectacular Rise and Fall of Commodore and it amazes me how poorly that company was run.

As long as it comes standard with Pools of Radiance I'm there.

All my friends had 286s in college. I went up with a Commodore 64. What a bumpkin. What a maroon! I would turn it on, go take a shower, get dressed, go downstairs for breakfast, have a leisurely cup of coffee and chat with friends, look at the newspaper, come back up to my romm, and I only had to wait a little longer for it to load up. I had such a love/hate relationship with that machine. Finally, I got a little shoebox Mac.
Somehow, I miss the Commodore. I would get a new one for pure nostalgia, I think.

You old Amiga guys should try the Amiga Forever emulator, it works beautifully.

Its just the name people, in the same way Escom bought Commodore, not for anything else other than its name.

Christmas before last, a mate bought me one of those combo console/joysticks that plugs straight into the telly and lets you play a bunch of old school games.

It was an ENTIRE C64 MAN. In the base of a fucking joystick. For like, TEN QUID.

I didn't know whether I was crying with joy or sadness, but I do know my hand hurt like hell after an hour of Uridium...
