I just listened to an interview of Fabrice Lamidey (http://networkedblogs.com/p21461650) on Scepticisme Scientifique (sorry, it's a podcast in French). Lamidey is one of the original game designers of Nephilim who, like many others, has since been lured by the gazillions mega bucks budgets of the video game industry. I'm not sure why a podcast about scientific skepticism would get interested in TTRPG... I guess Lamidey explaining the challenge of building a coherent game setting out of esoteric/occult lore demonstrates indirectly how asinine secret magical conspiracies are.
Anyway, the nice scoop amid the memories about designing the original game, Multisim and bankrupt French RPG publishers, is that the IP owners think it's time to resurrect Nephilim and they licensed Bibliotheque Interdite (http://www.bibliothequeinterdite.fr/) to create a new edition. The objective is a newbie friendly version of the game (without the dozen layers of intrigues and meta-plots scattered in a couple dozen supplements). They also mentioned using the license in video game(s?)

Hunh. So someone
does still hold the IP rights to
Nephilim. Information has been very sparse here on the English-speaking end of things. I'd be interested to see what Chaosium's opinion is about their continuing association with the game line.
!i!
I wish they disclosed a few more details. For instance I have no idea what rule system it will use.
