It was just confirmed to Grim & Perilous Studios last night by GW’s licensing department that they are in the process of concluding a deal with a major European publisher for world-wide distribution rights to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. While no other details were shared, we can only speculate which major European RPG publishers may have acquired the rights.

No thanks.

Fascinating.  I wonder what shape it will take.  While I have heard stories about the (rightly) favored 1e and 2e campaigns, I heard nary a peep about 3rd edition.  I almost bought it one night at the comic store; I'm kind of glad I didn't.  Talk about gimmicky!  And $69.99.  Oof!  I would hope there'd be a return to a more traditional system, something that cleaves closer to 1e and 2e's system with careers and such.  No more "stance cards" or weird dice please.

I hope so, too! I can't imagine Modiphius will use a percentile system, but from what I've seen regarding the 2d20, it looks pretty good.

Modiphius also has several alumnus of the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay days freelancing with them, so that's a massive boon.
No thanks.

I second this wholeheartedly. I'd love to have a new edition of WFRP, one that actually delves into areas that haven't been explored yet, but the 2d20 system will guarantee I stay away.

Well, that's good.  Perhaps we'll also get the Dark Heresy, Only War, Deathwatch, and Rogue Trader follow-ups.

Outstanding. C7 might be a little slow with their releases, but I've got a stack of their books and they're quality products. I'll definitely be following news of a new edition closely.

Thank Sigmar! Hopefully we'll have a 1e/2e-like system.

We'll have GW-mandated metaphor too, but hey. As long as it's not an Age of Sigmar RPG...

Worldwide distribution rights might be a simple as re-issuing old material such as WotC are currently doing. It's money for nothing (well, nearly).

Until i see someone talking about a new edition or a continuation of an old line, i won't be expecting too much.

On DTRPG, my WHFRP2, Realms of Sorcery and Tome of Salvation also all show up coming from Cubicle 7 now.  Nothing new available to buy, yet, but hopefully the whole shebang will be available again through C7 this time.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar
