This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Hi,
I'm new to the forums, but I work for Empty Room Studios, I am posting this not to try and plug our new RPG game that's aimed at kids, but to try and get some support from the community. One of the artists of Empty Room Studios is having a tough time right now financially -I know we all are- but his is unique in that he is dealing with a sick wife, and raising two daughters with one on the way.
The point is, we at ERS would like to offer our newest game, Dungeon Dwellers: Junior Edition for *almost* free. All you have to do is visit //www.helpthehersheys.blogspot.com and donate as little as $1.00 to help out Rick's family and we will send you a link to download DD:JD.
Also, please post a link in your facebook pages (with the same deal I am offering you here), tweet out a message, blog about it, or e-mail your friends -just help get the word out to everyone you may know who would be interested in a great game aimed at kids and for helping out a worthy cause!
Thanks for your time.

I went ahead and donated. Wish I could do more. I'm just poor.

thanks we'll get a link to you in the morning.

R. Lawrence Blake

I passed this info along on my blog.

Hairfoot

I've been trying to hold back since this thread was posted because I don't want to crap it, but I just can't.

The Hersheys wouldn't be here begging money from strangers if the US had a proper healthcare system.  People will bullshit endlessly about non-existent death panels and other silliness, but here is a perfect example of what the mercenary health industry does to ordinary people.

I strongly encourage the Hersheys to emigrate if health and finances allow.  Some nations actually give a damn about their non-wealthy inhabitants.

Donation is on its way.

Couldn't agree more. And thank you.
Also, just so everyone knows, the Hershey's really had no idea I was doing this for them until a few days ago.

Rick Hershey

I just want to step in and thank everybody.

I agree entirely on the Health care issues, so no worries there. My wife is young (23) and to have to spend everyday fucking dealing with being sick and fighting to get the health care she needs is insane. On top of it, stress agitates her condition to no end.

I was just amazed that in order for us to get assistance in North Carolina, I had to make less then $650 a month. As the sole provider of a family of 4 (soon to be 5) I have no idea how that's not an encouragement to stay in poverty. At $650 a month, where the hell do you live? How do you buy groceries? Etc.

Of course, I'm sure they would help out with that also. I feel like it's a penalty to try and take care of my own family. I just don't have the $100,000+ to cover  my wife's medical bills each year.

Anyways, sorry for that. I really just wanted to thank everyone for their support, not go on a rant.

I made a post at the rpg.net site explaining the situation and they deleted my post and banned me for life!

Rick Hershey

I was asked this in a PM, but wanted to share. A lot of the issues involved beyond my wife's medical bills is due to clients not paying and me covering them so my member's don't have to wait. Right now, I'm owed exactly $7,550 from a handful of large and mid-tier companies. Some of that is owed to artists still, a lot of it owed to me personally.

Silverlion

Sadly, I agree with Hairfoot on Medical care (and I live in the states.) For a family that size they should be given more assistance. Problem is states vary. I don't live in any better a state mind you.

Still no link on my end at nearly 2Pm CST (silverlion@gmail.com )

Not that I did this for the link. I do want the product mind you, but wasn't my main motivation. I just had a kidney stone this weekend, Its not a reoccurring problem but the thought of ANYONE suffering that pain makes me very unhappy.

Good luck though. I wish you well.
