Alpha Blue, baby!

Yes, the PDF of Alpha Blue is live!  It's not only an old school 70's and 80's sci-fi RPG and campaign setting chock-full of random tables and scenario seeds - it also serves as a perfectly adequate virtual door-stop.

I almost  can't wait.
Well, I'll have to, if only for banking reasons. Although I suspect that I might get to read some highly entertaining reviews even before I could sort that out!

And session reports, too, I hope!

I think that would be best.

Man, you don't really like Muslims, do you? The "Jihad Kamikaze" drug gave that vibe, despite mentioning the majority of decent persons.

I think Muslims have more potential when not used as antagonists, but as allies.

So wait the book tells you that the vast majority of Muslims are good people and you still complain?  Just be happy they didn't pull a Fox News on you and made all Muslims into vile pieces of shits.

AsenRG

Heh,  if you think that was complaining,  you've never heard me actually complaining. It was a pretty neutral comment on two of the entries:).

Other than that, I mostly like the setting idea, and my group finds the idea so hilarious that they're now curious;).

I'm glad you brought that up.

Rather than use something like space Nazis, space communists or something similar, I decided to go with something more topical.  If you've been paying attention to the action/adventure/thriller genre over the last decade, ultra-violent Jihadists are all over the place.

Let me state for the record that I wasn't trying to be offensive and I apologize to any who are offended by that small faction entry.  I have just as much respect for Islam and Muslims as I do for Christianity and Christians, Judaism and Jews, as well as, any other right hand path / white light religion.

Also, since the release of the PDF, I've been corresponding with a Muslim American soldier who is helping me design a splinter-group of space Muslims who are attempting to redefine the Interstellar Caliphate by combating extremism, radicalism, and terrorism within its ranks.  I'm going to post that Alpha Blue bonus content on the Draconic Magazine website sometime between tonight and New Year's Day.

I have, but I haven't been paying attention to most of the new releases, going for the classics instead. I'll take this on your word:).

The reason I noted it was because I found it "going for the low-hanging fruit". Typically, I find this approach to lead to games that are boring to me, personally (unless you're using the modern entities that are on the first pages without changing them, then it gets me interested - but "ISIL in space" isn't "without changing them").

Still, I wouldn't have mentioned it if it was something that I'm aware is only my opinion. But the entries are committing a worse sin: making Muslims enemies-only (that's what I'm getting from the book as written - not that I'm going to use them like this), precludes using the Muslim characters as workers, bodyguards, junkies and so on in the "space red light district".
And I happen to think for Alpha Blue a different view on sexuality/relationships would be much more entertaining than a "shoot on sight" enemy.

I could forgive two such entries in the whole book, though. Which is why I said I'm not planning to make a huge deal (and use my black belt in Comp Lain Ken).

...given your handle, one could assume that to be "none";).
Let me state that I'm not defending any religion from your "offensiveness". I don't need to, either.
(Either a religion is "right" - not necessarily "true", that doesn't even interest me - and you couldn't offend it; or else it's not, and you can't say anything worse about it.)

Where is that "Jihad Kamikaze" drug you mentioned?  Do you have a page number?

Also, I just noticed that some commas went missing.  Hopefully, that didn't happen all over the place...

It's on p.52,  Blue sunshine.

That actually has nothing to do with space Muslims or the like.  It's a reference to the vintage film Blue Sunshine.  A weird form of LSD makes people go bald and homicidal.  I haven't seen it in years and don't recall it being a good movie, but wanted to do a tiny homage to it anyway.

Also, that space Muslim article has been posted:  http://www.draconicmagazine.com/articles/alpha-blue-space-muslim-splinter-group

Because some weird layout/formatting glitches were discovered, Glynn (my layout guy) and I were able to fix a few other errors.  Since both PDF and print files were being updated, I had him slip in that piece about the Elvehjem Azahd on page 89 of Alpha Blue.  So, it's more than just "bonus content"... it's official.

Now, to get all the KS backers their DriveThruRPG copies.

p.s.  This self-publishing bullshit is exhausting.  ;)

Yeah, but he's shaving it off, not going bald.

Interesting about the hair shaving.  Didn't know that.  Since I shave my head every other day, I used that instead of it all falling out.  But I see where you got that idea from now.  Thanks for the link!

Hope you enjoy the Elvehjem Azahd.
