SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

(218 games!) thank you!

We just wanted to thank whoever has purchased "Waverly - Ash Can Edition".  It just went up for sale and sold four on drivethrurpg in the first week!  We only made a mention it was going to be sold, no advertisements were made.  This is the site we chose to talk about it, so you have to be members here.  Thank you again.

That term originated in the comic book world:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashcan_copy

In the 90s many comic book publishers used it to sell previews (sometimes only b/w, pencil sketches) of their presumed next big hit.

In the RPG world The Whispering Vault had an ashcan edition before it was a "real product":

It was a fully playable, even fully illustrated, "beta version" of the game, sold for 10 $ at conventions.
Swords & Wizardry & Manga ... oh my.
(Beware. This is a Kickstarter link.)

Thank you both!  That definition helps immensely.

Now...WTF is Waverly?

rway218

waverly is a fantasy setting for 218 Games! written without standard fantasy races.  It is set on a large devided continent in a fragile peace.   This is an adventure/dungeon crawl style game, the current release has both player's guide and Regent (gm ) section.
