Title: [TV] BSG questions
Post by: pspahn on April 26, 2008, 05:23:28 PM
BEWARE - MAJOR SPOILERS HERE

Okay, I've only seen up to the end of season 3, haven't seen any of season 4.

In the last episode season 3, I take it they're saying Tigh, Chief, Starbuck's hubby, the president's aide, and Starbuck are the final 5 cylons, right?  I'm having a problem with that timeline, particularly with Tigh.  It looked to me from Razor that the cylons were just starting to experiment with biologicals and such (the first hybrid).  Tigh fought in the first cylon war, right?  So how is he a cylon (if he is)?  Plus, most of the others would have to have been cylons from birth based on some of their flashbacks.

If you know the answers, go ahead and spoil it for me.

Also, WTF was that with All Along the Watchtower?  Are they trying to say Bob Dylan is from outer space or something, because I guess you could argue that?  But really, they had better explain that and it better have something to do with earth, otherwise their credibility with me just took a serious hit.  They could have just as easily introduced a new poem or song.

Wow....talk about being 10 months late to the party here.

All of your questions were mostly answered last summer after that episode first aired.

Tigh, Anders, Tory, and Tyrol ARE "Cylons" but may be a different kind than the ones we've met before.  This was hinted at very heavily bry the writers and producers in many, many intereviews and discussions between April 2007 and now.

As to the music - Ron Moore has specifically said that as the Colonials get closer to Earth and the last colonies certain memories may come back to them - like memories of common songs and musical memes. Its for this very reason that they did NOT use either a Bob Dylan or Jimi Hendrix version of the song but came up with their own arrangement and mix of instruments.  The idea being that its a shared "racial memory" of some kind.

(Channeling at least 3 dozen tbp Battlestar Galactica threads that covered this territory last Summer and fall.....)

....and remembering also OTHER websites that talked about these things between May of last year and now. : wikipedia, IMDB, TV Guide questions....Geez , man these things have been discussed- its been a whole year between season, not jusat 3 cmonths.

Ha!  My life's too hectic right now to follow a whole season from week to week so I have to wait for the DVD seasons to come out and then get a chance to watch them all.  I figured it had been talked up (I tried to stay away from BSG threads so as not to catch spoilers), so I was hoping to get the rundown.  It'll probably be a year before I catch season 4, too.  :)  Thanks!

Um, you do realise that not everyone is obsessed with staying up to date with all the recent news and views regarding every series, right?  That some of us might not get around to watching a particular series until months -- perhaps even years! -- after it originally aired, right?

And you do realise that there's nothing wrong with this, right?

I caught up to the end of season 3 - figured it was something like that explanation for the All Along the Watchtower references - perhaps even intimating that the cylons had already been to earth...

The question is when I get to start the next season thats piling up on TiVo...
