This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I got this movie in the mail yesterday. And I turned out to like it quite a bit. It had a lot of fun throwback moments that really spoke to my inner fan.

I just picked the Blu-Ray up for 10 bucks on Amazon. Have not watched it yet, but I've seen some nifty clips on YouTube. I'm not sure it will be better than the sum of its parts, but the price was right.

I finally got around to watching the Blu-ray.

The movie is kind of a mess. There are some good bits in it that are worth seeing, but there are just as many moments that take you out of the movie for no good reason.

Like, why is Barry Allen suddenly Italian? It's jarring and not particularly authentic.

The effects are also wildly uneven. A lot of shots look half-rendered, like the famously bad CGI of The Rock in The Mummy Returns.  Critically, the speed running effects, the one thing they absolutely should have gotten right, look BAD. They're replacing the actor with a CGI double, but they can't be bothered to match his foot movement to the ground he is covering, so it looks like he is skating instead of running.

The X-Men movies did a lot better job speeding up Quicksilver, the sequences in those movies still look amazing and draw you into the scene, instead of out.

Still, I didn't hate the movie. It's like eating pizza from the cheapest place in a college town. Still kinda OK, but anything else is probably better.

The director thought that the Flash was moving so fast that friction no longer applied and so he really was supposed to be skating across the ground. Understanding 7th grade physics has never been a requirement for Hollywood, as any sci-fi movie fans already knows.

That is just the standard hollwood excuses for bad work.

"Why is the emblem backwards in this segment?"
"Oh that was an after effect of the ray they hit him with. It had, um, negative ions in it! yeah That!"
