This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Ian AbsentiaOh, you bitch.  You sad, sad bitch. :(  Aren't they pretty much the same show?  Right down to their perky Rachel-Ray-esque better halves?

!i!
They are so close, the characters from one show frequently make appearances on the other. Although I wouldn't call the wives perky so much as bitchy.

Quote from: SettembriniAnd I thought this was a thread where I could complain that I had to sit in the same room while Grey´s Anatomy was on...

I really hate that show.

My wife watches that one too.  Every episode I've ever seen ends with 5 minutes of sad music while no one talks to each other, and everyone ignores an opportunity to fix the wrongs they've done.

My wrestling show is less formulaic and that's saying something.

I´m with you. You know, I can appreciate some witty girls stuff, just as my wife can relate to several action flicks, if they are made suspensefully.

But GA is neither witty, nor suspenseful. It´s trite on several levels.

BTW, I can cope with Bush and Rice, I still love the USA.
But I cannot stand, in no way whatosever, "Everybody loves Raymond." Damn you Yankees!

It is morally corrupt, unfunny and the cause of brain damage.
I´ve heard it also causes hair loss and warts.

Hell, I've known men to gouge their eyes out so as to never risk seeing another episode of "Dr. Quinn, Medicine woman."

What's even worse is any random hour of "the lifetime network". Oh god, the horror, the horror......

Quote from: flyingmiceFirst off, there hasn't been a funny new sitcom written in the last decade, at least. Personally, I haven't laughed at a sitcom since Frazier went off the air.

Maybe you mean a funny new family sitcom?

The Office and Trailer Park Boys are both situational comedies -- but pretty far from Everybody Loves Raymond or Frasier.  I think they're both pretty funny too.

Joey2k

I've noticed that the best sitcoms seem to be the ones that don't have a dubbed-in laugh-track. Like The Office, Scrubs, Malcom in the Middle, Arrested Development, etc.

Obviously, my sense of humor is dead. No need to discuss this further - it's all a taste issue anyway. I'm very sorry I said anything.

Apologies.

Dr Rotwang!

My Name Is Earl is pretty funny.  It actually makes me laugh and that's not easy for TV to do.

Personally the last sitcom I liked was "Married with children".

Oh well.....

Reno 911 gets laughs from me. As does The Office, My Name is Earl and 30 Rock.

Anyhow, recent (i.e. within the last 10 years or so) comedy series I find rather amusing include: 'Seinfeld', 'Curb You Enthusiasm', 'The Office' (especially the British version; but solely thanks Steve Carell, the Yank version isn't too bad at all; the French version is ... well, best not to talk about it!), Fawlty Towers (oops, sorry);  Scrubs; 'Black Adder' (sorry again);  and, well ...

And ... Scrubs is 'conditional' ... :p

Dr Rotwang!

The best sitcom ever was made in England, and it had an episode where there was a fish in Mike's bed.

Don't argue with me, you're wrong.

Look, dude, the 'Young Ones' theory was totally disproven in, like, the late 1990s ...

Or so says a physicist I know ...  :what:
