This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Unless this thread is for discussion of how his death affects DDI and thus gaming, then this belongs in off topic.

You ARE the enemy. You are not from "our ranks". You never were. You and the filth that are like you have never had any sincere interest in doing right by this hobby. You\'re here to aggrandize your own undeserved egos, and you don\'t give a fuck if you destroy gaming to do it.

These kinds of tragedies are terrible.  In a strangely similar circumstance, I just had lunch with a friend today whose step-sister was murdered by her estranged husband last week.  I always feel so bad for the families because I cannot imagine how they manage to deal with something like that.  I would totally lose it.
Now Prepping: One-shot adventures for Coriolis, RuneQuest (classic), Numenera, 7th Sea 2nd edition, and Adventures in Middle-Earth.

Recently Ended: Palladium Fantasy - Warlords of the Wastelands: A fantasy campaign beginning in the Baalgor Wastelands, where characters emerge from the oppressive kingdom of the giants. Read about it here.

That's a very sad and unfortunate coincidence.

Losing a family member suddenly is very hard. :(

He was, apparently, the manager of DDI.

He was not an RPG player or GM though... He did play (and maybe at one time design) Xbox live games though, and of course worked for Micro$oft.

She went through Harvard Law, was a public defender out in NC, gave that up, and moved out to the west coast to start a new life. Then she had an affair... and the rest... is history now.

Amongst the Xbox crowd, they are pretty evenly split on whether he was justified. And if all this had happened in Texas, it's still grounds for justifiable homicide, which goes along the same lines as self-defense.

In any event, IMO she didn't deserve to die, and he was as complete and  total a loser as is humanly possible.

It's unfortunate there's not a screening process that can detect losers like this, as they seem to be drawn to gaming like moths to a flame. The only place with more real-life drama, is Hollywood.
