Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Not that I wouldn't expect less from that slug Moore, but you'd think that someone who once held the second highest post in the Democrat party would be more compassionate about those suffering (or soon to be so) along the Gulf coast.

David Zuker, one of the writers and the director of the film, doesn't seem like much of a conservative based on his campaign donations, which favor Democrats by a factor of more than 10 to 1.

You'd think that if you are going to link something you'd look at it. You have to go back almost a decade, to 1999, to see a donation to a Democrat. Lieberman ran as an independent in 2006. So he appears to have had a change of heart.

You'll hear worse out of college boys, but someone with that authority should have gotten out of the 'college boy' mentality already.
The main problem with government is the difficulty of pressing charges against its directors.

Given a choice of two out of three M&Ms, the human brain subconsciously tries to justify the two M&Ms chosen as being superior to the M&M not chosen.

:eyeroll:

First of all, these sort of mockusations hinge on over-reading into a joke.

It's like nominally liberal dude says "I wish a bus would drop on President Bush."

Then someone who really loves Bush says "Oh my god!  I cannot believe my ears!  Did you hear that?  Did you hear that scandalous thing he just said!  He wants to kill a busload of nuns and orphans!  He said he wanted to drop a bus, which of course must be full of nuns and orphans, off a cliff.  That would kill everyone inside the bus!  How horrible!  How can anyone support or associate with this awful person who seriously wants to bing grevious harm to poor orphans and harmless old nuns."

Mock outrage at a mock offense.

Meanwhile, what do we get from the right?

Quote from: The 700 Club on September 13th, 2001, discussing Spetemeber 11thJERRY FALWELL: And, I know that I'll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way - all of them who have tried to secularize America - I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen."

PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I totally concur, and the problem is we have adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our government. And so we're responsible as a free society for what the top people do. And, the top people, of course, is the court system.

Zucker has said his conversion (if you call it that) is pretty recent when he is interviewed on the topic. He also mentions his change in views started after September 11th, 2001.... much like Ron Silver. Wouldn't call them Republicans or conservatives...more something akin to libertarians who want the country defended.

That preview is pretty damn funny. I love the "stop chanting!" bit. The actor playing the Michael Moore-analog character is Kevin Farley, Chis Farley's younger brother.

That explains my "I thought he was dead" thoughts while watching it.

Note the shift before and after 9/11.  Then read this article.

Zucker was still nominally a Democrat when George W. Bush was elected in 2000. "Then 9/11 happened, and I couldn't take it anymore," he says. "The response to 9/11--the right was saying this is pure evil we're facing and the left was saying how are we at fault for this? I think I'd just had enough. And I said 'I quit.'"

Oh, wait - that makes it perfectly ok! I get it now!

Fucking kindergardener.

Just admit it, the gloating about a hurricane hitting at the start of a political convention is below classless. Honestly - even you have to admit that much.

Wait, this is bucket-o-shit guy.

Nevermind.

My favorite is the Che Guevara hospital clip because, sadly, it's not that far from the truth.  I was expecting Jackalope to complain that Zucker is promoting violence against the ACLU.

Oh, so he's not a conservative.

He's a coward.  Gotcha.

No, I don't.  It's funny.  Is it funny that the hurricane is going to hit?  No.  Is it funny that the hurricane might hurt someone?  No.

Is it funny that the first Republican convention after the absolute disastrous failure of Republican leadership that was Katrina is going to be hit by a hurricane?  Yes.  That's fucking HILARIOUS.  That challenges my lack of belief in a just and fair God.
