I guess that your criticism of Hollywood's film industry for its scathing portrayals of fat people is totally unfounded, since you cannot reply to my simple request.

As an aside, I can't imagine being so hyper sensitive about any condition I had, to the point that I couldn't laugh at myself. I've made all sorts of mistakes in my life, just like everyone else. If I can't laugh at them every once in a while, what's wrong with me?

Eddie Murphy's nutty professer movies, antyhing with chris farley and that cosksucking asshole david spade, glick, eddie murphy's new movie busting on an overweight girl, etc.

BTW, eddie murphy seems to have a real problem with overweight people. I;d like about 10 miniutes in a room alone with him to teach him some "respect" and "sensitivity".

Speaking of movies, I just got a DVD of "Birth of a nation." Boy they don't make 'em like that anymore.:teehee:

So I endorse a movie they find "offensive" to let them know how it feels to be negatively stereotypes and portrayed in a movie, which is what that fucking asshole murphy does to a lot of people in his movies.)

How many non-comic sidekick positive representations of fat people are there?  Hell, how many fat people?

Fat people tend not to get positive portrayals, partly as most actors and actresses are hardbodies or stick-thin, with a few character actor exceptions.

I don't think it's a case of pointing out films that ridicule fat people, I think it's more that fat people generally are portrayed as comic figures and there are damn few positive portrayals.

Why did this need a thread by the way?  Other than baiting Nox for a point of view that, though you might disagree with it, is hardly an unusual one in this context.

:shrug: I don't think Hollywood has a hate on for fat people. They are plenty of bulky actors doing great work in Hollywood. As for on screen rep, hell fat people are no more a target, than blacks, hispanics... the other...and even now, not as much as before. In fact I think, as a group, fat people have it better then some other marginalized groups. It is funny though, that for all of Hollywood's faults some would choose the most inconsequential.

Edit: Nox does not have a point. He has an insecurity which informs most of his posts.

His kind? Do you mean actors, comedians, guys that hate fat people, or what?

If you mean black people, do you honestly think they need a movie to let them know how it feels to be negatively stereotyped? I'm pretty sure they were getting treated rather poorly long before movies were invented.

Being fat is not the same as being black.  You can't stop being black (unless you're Michael Jackson) and there's nothing wrong with being black.  In fact, if the Ozone keeps thinning, being black is probably a really good thing.  And yet, people make fun of being black all the time.  Eddie Murphy does it, for example.

On the other hand, you can stop being fat.  Being fat is very bad for you -- and bad for society as a whole. Now, a lot of people aren't entirely to blame for being fat.  Watch Supersize Me and consider how people become addicted to bad food much in the same way as other drugs.  

Some movies do make fun of fat people.  Mike Myers gets in the fat suit, slathers himself in grease and rolls around with Heather Graham in Austin Powers II.  There are off-hand comments about a fat guy needing to eat again by Adam Sandler in The Wedding Singer.  Jack Black had an entire movie about a fat woman -- Shallow Hal (although not to give away the ending, but it's not fat=bad).

And finally, there's a difference between making fun of people and villifying them.  Birth of a Nation villifies black people -- it's not a comedy.  I've really been trying to think you're not a racist... but the evidence is staking up against you.
