Title: Netfix Cleopatra: "WE WAS KWEENS!"
Post by: SHARK on April 14, 2023, 05:06:38 PM
Greetings!

Here is a great discussion video of Netflix and their new Cleopatra series.

Black Pigeon Speaks is awesome!

The video is hilarious, and also disturbing. Yet another example of how History and truth are being flushed down the drain in favour of lies and racist, Black Supremacy bullshit.

Semper Fidelis,

SHARK

Greetings!

Here also is an excellent reaction analysis to the Netflix Trailer for Cleopatra by the historian, Metatron. Metatron is an Italian--Sicilian, historian, and expert in the Classical World as well as ancient armour, weapons, and fighting.

Metatron takes the Trailer apart piece by piece, and hones in on some very dangerous and absolutely ignorant, racist, Black Supremacy bs.

So pathetic that this racist garbage and lies are being pushed by Netflix as a HISTORICAL DOCUMENTARY.

I disagree with Metatron's final statement. I can't imagine anyone so embroiled in identity politics, even a corporate suit, that they'd make Cleoblackra, would be concerned about the money.

Just remember it's our fault.

Jada Pinkett Smith says she blames 'white supremacists' for the flop of her new Netflix docudrama series, Queen Cleopatra, which has one the worst audience ratings in U.S. television history.

There's another reason to not portray Cleopatra as black: she probably would have wanted to be portrayed as pale. Why? Because "women should be lighter/fairer than men" was a beauty standard of Egypt and the Mediterranean from the Old Kingdom down to at least Roman times (and many cultures still).

Greetings!

Oh yeah! It is pretty sad. I saw this one Egyptian girl, Nora, she had made a Tik Tok video talking about how she disapproved of her culture being misappropriated , twisted, and lied about.

This young Egyptian girl, under 25 years old, has been DELUGED with thousands of DM's and comments from Black people screaming at her, insulting her, degrading her in every way imaginable. Calling her "A filthy, dirty Arab girl that needs to be raped over and over." Many claim she is scum, and the descendant of dogs, sheep, and pigs. She needs to die. Mindless, constant streams of absolute hate poured on her by black people. Many of which, have been "African Americans." So many, many black people are drenched in mindless hatred, black supremacy, racism against everyone else, and full of Afrocentrism.

Absolutely disgusting.

I hope this film series gets bathed in napalm.

Netflix obviously didn't think that it was sensational enough.

I'm getting annoyed with streaming service "documentaries" anyways. The kick they seem to be on now is UFO sightings and a bunch of van Dannikan bullshit shown to help promote Stargate SG-1 and it's spin-offs. Used to be that a documentary was based on facts.

I normally think that "Cultural Appropriation" is mostly BS, but in  few cases, the outrage is entirely justified. Egyptians are going nuts over this stupid Netflix show. They are righteously angry about their culture, their history, their heritage, being lied about and willfully and terribly misrepresented.

Meanwhile, many black people are screaming, pouring out nothing but absolute hatred, racism, death-threats, degrading, insulting tirades, and Afro-centric BS and black supremacist propaganda.

Netflix and Jada Pinket Smith, as well as the director chick, and the actress portraying the "Black Cleopatra" deserve all the napalm they are getting, and more.

Usually, the 'cultural appropriation' slur is directed at someone for trying to borrow from another culture. Which, as I've commented before, is a bizarre complaint because adjacent cultures are always going to have some cross-pollination. That's how you get fusion styles in arts, food, etc. Are they always good? No, but hey, you can't find out if you don't try.

This is different, however. They're not trying to do something weird like the Hamilton production or that Patrick Stewart production of Othello where everyone was race-swapped; this is basically catering to historical revisionism and attempts to prop up the self-esteem of American blacks in a characteristically clumsy and incompetent way. The incoherent attempts to justify it only prove my point.

Blackwashing. Congratulations, Netflix and Jada Pinkett; you're the baddies.

Yeah, I agree. "Cultural appropriation" is essential to culture. In a healthy culture, there's no authority to grant permission to "appropriate" something. An authority like that is antithetical to culture.

We already have words for "cultural appropriation" as a slur: tacky, disrespectful, in poor taste... But these aren't ten-dollar words, so the self-important saviors avoid them. These people like to play games with language. See also "problematic" vs "bad."

The culture saviors preach that intent doesn't matter: "Cultural appropriation" is bad if someone from the culture is offended. They nullify intent as a defense, precisely so they can grant pardons based on intent. They've usurped and weaponized the essential human practice of taking from other cultures, not for any altruistic reason, rather so they can attack people they don't like.

I love arguing with people about "cultural appropriation" because it's as easy win. Just ask them what food they like, what music they listen to, etc. Ask them if they'd eat sushi made by a black guy living in Thailand. Watch the sparks and smoke fly out of their ears when they try to solve that complex matrix of oppressor-vs-oppressed. "Does not compute!" Fuck 'em. Do what you want and don't be a dick. The Golden Rule wins again.

There's a difference between cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation.

Cultural appropriation is done by people who have zero understanding of the culture and have no interest in educating themselves about it. This is where you get shallow trenders who adopt superficial aesthetics of Eastern mysticism, claim the wendigo is a cryptid with a deer skull for a head that they saw in the woods one time, or treating Romani as a fashion aesthetic. In reality, "Eastern mysticism" is an ignorant conflation of numerous religions and philosophies with their own histories, beliefs and cross pollinations. The wendigo is the Satan figure in the beliefs of modern Algonquin tribes and represents corporate and colonialist greed and environmental destruction... and it doesn't have (nor has it ever had) a deer skull for a head or live in the woods. The Romani are a real ethnic group that suffers from persecution that traps many in dire economic straits despite ample desire to be contributive members of the wider community. As you say: it's tacky, disrespectful, in poor taste, etc.

Cultural appreciation is when you actually make an effort to understand another culture and syncretize its beliefs with your own, which can range from something as simple as learning how to follow a recipe to complexities like consulting with theologians and occultists. This is where you gets staples of American culture like fortune cookies, which were invented by Chinese-American immigrants, or Louisiana Voodoo which syncretizes Haitian Voodoo, Hoodoo, Santeria, Candomblé and multiple other Afro-Caribbean religions. This is generally done by people who are colonized, not the people doing the colonizing. There are examples of the reverse, such as the Romans modeling their civilization after the Greeks, but this is rare. Other times, it happens as a result of economic exchange between otherwise equal cultures and without people really noticing. E.g. American supermarkets stocking on so-called "foreign" food, much of which is actually Americanized.

The wokies have only caused more problems by claiming the most insignificant things are cultural appropriation (e.g. claiming white people preparing Chinese dumplings is racist appropriation), diluting the meaning and making it far harder for people to take genuine examples of cultural appropriation seriously.

Cultural Appropriation ain't real.

Appropriation

noun: appropriation; plural noun: appropriations

    1.
the action of taking something for one's own use, typically without the owner's permission.
    "the appropriation of parish funds"
the artistic practice or technique of reworking images from well-known paintings, photographs, etc., in one's own work.
"the hallmark of postmodernism has turned out to be appropriation"
    2.
a sum of money or total of assets devoted to a special purpose.
"success in obtaining appropriations for projects"

Origen
late Middle English: from late Latin appropriatio(n- ), from appropriare 'make one's own' (see appropriate).

For this discussion only 1 is relevant and it implies someone loosing something at the hands of someone else, it's synonymous with theft, confiscation, usurpation, confiscation among other similar words and that's the EXACT meaning the imbeciles use it.

Since there's no one who owns a culture that can be asked permission to use it as shallow or depply as one wishes the first hurdle isn't superated.

Since by me dressing as a Romani no one from that ethnicity has lost anything the accusation also fails the second hurdle.

By that logic, blackface isn't racist.

Robert Downey Jr's role in Tropic Thunder, which many anti-woke people love, only makes sense if blackface is racist. The joke is that Downey's character opted for a dangerous and deranged medical procedure to darken his skin, rather than the fictional studio making the obviously sensible decision to hire a black actor.

You didn't just write that.

You do realize that NO ONE needs to do blackface to eat, dress, play, dance, sign ANYTHING ever produced by black Americans?

By YOUR logic black people shouldn't be wearing pants because "muh cultural appropriation and wacismism!"

Also, Tropic Thunder DOESN'T feature ANYONE doing blackface, guess you might need go watch what ACTUAL blackface looks like.

Cultural Appropriation is just the new polite way to keep segregation going. No thanks.
