I just saw the movie The Number 23 which stars Jim Carrey and Virginia Madsen.  My wife and I watched it via Netflix.  I was pleasantly surprised by this movie.  It was really good.  There's no doubt that Jim Carrey is an iconic comedian, however, he is also an extremely good actor as well.  He reminds me of a younger Robin Williams; an amazing comedian and incredible actor.  This was a really good thriller/horror movie.  Usually, I can nail the plot within the first 10-15 minutes of these types of movies, if they're not done well.  This movie was done well, and I found myself intensely immersed in the story due to the acting and story; which is not my normal experience with these types of movies.  This movie is definitely worth checking out, especially if you have a Netflix account.

I've been saying it for years: he's a better actor than he is a comedian. I don't find him particularly funny, but I always watch his dramas. If you want to see more of him in that capacity, try The Majestic. Less odd and a little predictable, but good nonetheless.

My reaction to the movie was the polar opposite of Drohem's. One of those "did we see the same movie?" moments.

I think my expectations were too high. I also had been following the Number 23 phenomenon for quite some time, and this movie...wasn't much about it. They got it wrong. There's actual, real "23's" that pop up in weird coincidental intervals without all the tortured pseudo-math the go thru to try to force 23's like pulling a rabbit from a hat.

The scene where they claim the word PINK is 23 is beyond bizarre, and the exact point where the movie misses the point.
