This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

More proof that Disney+ Star Wars is creatively dead: There is a show on the channel called Ahsoka: Sabine's Loth-Cat which is two hours of a computer generated sci-fi cat sleeping with a smooth jazz accompanied background music.
"Meh."

Actually, I've give that a pass since it plays into the lo-fi meme.  It feeds a niche for SW cat loving jazz fans even if it is a low effort project.

What is a hard pass for me are the dead inside writers that can't see past their culture agenda.

Saw mention of it a year or two ago when the Star Wars Galaxies thing was about to open. Guess they resurrected it as CGI? Was originally a animatronic prop if recall right.

Disney+ seems to be determined to spend as much money as possible on shows that no one wants or asked for.  The next one up is Echo. Very few people even know who she is and even fewer care.  They tried pushing her hard in comics a few years ago and comic readers didn't care.  Streaming watchers are going to care even less.  They usual suspects are going to tell up all about how Important this show is and hardly anyone will watch it.

I suspect there are multiple people at Disney/Lucasfilm running around doing things without really communicating between them.

Oh, and it's about time we had a woman involved in making movies... It's 2024 already, for feminism's sake!
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

Unfortunately with outrage marketing being a thing. At this point it all could have been fabricated just to get eyes on whatever "fix" they put out.

What is more likely: That no one currently at Lucasfilm knows that a woman wrote Empire Strikes Back or that Lucasfilm doesn't think any Star Wars fans actually know this?

Disney produced something that lasted 2 hours with zero DEI/SJW bullshit!

Incredible!!

Sounds like the best Star Wars product since Rogue One!!

Lurkndog

Disney is a mess right now. They've announced more than a dozen movies now that haven't been made.

How are fans supposed to get invested in that?

It's not that they're creatively dead, their production people are the best in the business, and have changed the game with Stagecraft. And when they're on their game they are as good as they ever were.

But their management is fucking terrible.

Omega

Production might be good. But their writing, marketing and management have been in the gutter since the Rey series started.
