This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I need some TV Show recommendations

My viewing list is growing short, what with my having seen most of the current seasons of most of the shows I'm into, and I'm looking for ideas for new things to try out watching.

This is what I've been viewing currently, and should give an idea of what I enjoy:
South Park
The Simpsons
Family Guy
Venture Bros.
The Tudors
House
Big Love
Heroes
Survivors
Dexter
True Blood

Doctor Who, obviously, and Sarah Jane

Plus I watch smarter comedy shows like the Daily Show, Colbert, and Real Time with Bill Maher.

Ok, suggest away!

Tough to find anything for the next few months other than DVD's. Summer is TV Hell. May I recommend:

Weeds
Penn & Teller Bullshit
Californication
My name is Ryan Alderman. Real men shouldn\'t need to hide behind pseudonymns.

Ronin

Vive la mort, vive la guerre, vive le sacré mercenaire

Ronin\'s Fortress, my blog of RPG\'s, and stuff

My only suggestions are DVDs at this point, nothing is really turning me on the cable channels.
"Meh."

Reaper and chuck if u can find em should fit your tastes quite well, other than that maybe give the new scifi show warehouse 13 a look once it begins early july.

Second that. If you like intelligent programming BBC in general should be up your alley. Unlike the U.S. they don't cater to the lowest common IQ with their TV. Well, not to the extent we do anyways.

oh eyh primeval would definitly be of interest to the pundit :)

If you like House, you might like Mental.  Take Dr. Gregory House with the usual wacky off the wall treatment of patients, only in a mental hospital, and he's not as big of a jerk, more of a doofus.
I'm/a/dude

One Horse Town

Although it doesn't fit in with anything on your list, i'm going to recommend Pacific anyway. It's a BBC natural history programme - so you know it's going to be good. Beautiful and informative.

Regarding Primeval, it's decent mindless fun - and a tad more grisly and scary than Dr.Who (they almost invariably go head to head in the UK). It's started to stretch my credulity a bit too much during the recently finished 3rd series, but you could certainly do worse.

Dunno whether you've caught Spooks at all - more crudulity stretching here, but good fun.

On the history front, have you seen The Devil's Whore? Cromwellian drama.

jswa

I suggested The Tudors to you back in the day.

Give Carnivale a try. It only has two seasons but it was great while it lasted.

I'll second Spooks (aka MI5 here on our side of the pond)
Is it still running in the UK? I havent seen a new episode in a while? FOr that matter even an old one. The only British TV I get is BBC America. I'm afraid it might not have been to popular with the neaderthals here in the US. So they might have pulled it.
Oh and OHT if you think those shows are kind of mindless fun. Dont watch broadcast TV here in the US. It will melt your mind with idiocy.
Been that way a long time too.:(

Bullshit I've seen and love. Ditto with The Devil's Whore.
I saw Primeval, and Carnivale, and didn't care for either.
I saw the first episode of Mental the other day, so far I was not very impressed.

Imperator

Try Life on Mars (BBC for the win). Really refreshing.
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).

Yeah, it's still going strong. It's nicely refreshing that they have a fair turn-over of characters on the show instead of sticking with the same ones forever.
