Anyone seen HR yet? If so is it any good? I liked the good doctor as portrayed by Sir Anthony Hopkins, so I was thinking of checking out this prequel.

It's on my 'Going to go see' list.  Just gotta get a babysitter and all that lined up.  The adds look really good, but then again the adds for Supernova looked good also so that means very little.

Twas an all right movie.  A tad bit odd really.  Seemed a bit strange to make him a sympathetic character, nor did it really make sense of his decent to nutso-ville.  It just sort of happened.

I really wouldn't suggest this to anyone.  The book is an absolute catastrophe.

Seriously, it's as if Harris has suddenly completely lost touch with his character.  I actually wonder whether it wasn't partly ghost written.  Harris is famously unproductive as a writer and have the book AND the screen-play on go at the same time with the book coming out just in time to start the film's PR campaign seems a bit convenient.

There's a poster for this in the wierd underground tunnel I have to walk through to get to my work. I don't understand how anyone can look at this poster and not think "unutterable shit". I think it everytime I pass by and have begun ejaculating it tourette's style from the side of my mouth.

Then I have to pass the poster for that Hugh Grant/Drew Barrymore moving that makes me suddenly and uncontrollably bellow "lazy talentless cunts".

I think I'd just about rather see Hannibal Rising than that Barrymore/Grant thing.  At least people get eaten in Hannibal Rising.  At the other film you only get the image of the romantic comedy genre messily devouring itself.

I doubt there are many tits in Hannibal.

It has one of those racist female japanese characters that spend all of their time polishing their grandfather's samurai armour and weeping at the beauty of a haiku they just composed.  To that sort sex is generally considered beneath them.

That could be it. I simply suspect he is milking the franchise.

I think the movie version of Silence of the Lambs was intended as a respectful adaptation but it did turn Hannibal Lecter into a pop culture icon in a strange sort of way that wasn't intended by the author.

It has turned the early work into a sort of franchise and everything written from that point on seems to have been made with this in mind.

In other words, I think he kind of lost touch with the character deliberately because he's writing for a slightly different audience now.
