SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Things I have learned from the RPG Site as a poster.

Quote from: Consonant DudeI take it you never came across a mirror...

I avoid mirrors like they were syphilis and I'm a a rap star! I once saw the truth, but it hurt me. I keep hoping reality will call back, but I have a strange feeling I've just been used, and I'm nothing more than a number to her.

Quote from: rcsample24a. Being a game, I do not feel inclined to dress up as a Wizard/Yoda/Gollum.  Just as when I play Axis and Allies, I do not feel compelled to dress up as Hitler.

Dressing up as Hitler is wrong?! It's taken me ages to grow this dinky little moustache.

Only when you don't have a hot chick dress up as Eva Braun and spank you for being naughty(the fat guy in your gaming group who dresses up as Sailor Moon is not an acceptable substitute)

Hitler was able to grow his mustache into a little rectangle under his nose?!?  I guess he was the Master Race(copyright Lucasfilm Ltd.).

That annoys me as well.  At work whenever they hire a new guy named Jeff I just push him down the stairs.

#12 is the coolest thing from being on these forums.  The "war" shows the diversity in opinion and can make for entertaining reading.

26#  Gamers are human first and not just a sub-demographic statistic or category.

Stumpydave:  no comment (although if presented in an rpg situition, I would just run away!!!)
It is unbecoming for young men to utter maxims.

That brings back  memories....

There is this convention called MarCon that is usually in Columbus , Ohio every Memorial day weekend.

Between 1997 and 2001  there was this guy there that used to spook my Klingon little saister. She was VERY into anime and preferred the original Japanese versions if she could find them.

The guy showed up in full costume as Sailor Moon...with a 5 o'clock shadow...plus he was 6 foot 2 and lanky.  he was known as "Sailor Ron" by the convention attendees.   Little Klin-sister Lorath hated catching sight of that guy.

Quote from: Serious Paul5. RPG Industry people are perhaps the most socially inept people I have ever come across, as a rule they lack a sense of humor. I hope to never game with them despite the fact that some of them are obviously brilliant.
I am ready to join the "industry." For a minute I worried I was going to have to gain weight.
Quote8. The people who get the most upset about me making fun of anime, furries and larpers are the people who are into anime, furries and LARP.
I never got how someone could be into this stuff and not realize it was silly. Except for furries... I just don't know how someone could be into that stuff at all.
Quote13. I want to go to Gen Con. I also want to bring a taser with me, just in case.
You missed some awesome stuff.
Quote15. Some of you admit to taking medication. Some of you need to. (Take medication.)
Haven't touched the stuff in a long time. All the ADD meds are amphetamines or amphetamine derivatives... I get angry when I'm that focussed. And antidepressants make me morbid and effectively mute. Offsetting my WIS6 isn't worth all that.

I don't know where you are on the list, but I should add that "Gaming doesn't have to stop after high school." Thanks go to this board and the continuing geek-buzz from Gencon for that one.
