SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

We're having an arguement about gamer stereotypes in the media on the Knoxgamers.org forum and I'm stuck on opposing the negative to the point that I'm wondering if I'm just completely out to lunch here. Take a look at the thread and let me know if I've just lost my mind on this one.

Well I think you may have a general point.  The problem is this guy has a project and it's clearly quite a ways in.  He comes in asking for some help and you attack the very core of his project.  It's perhaps not the most productive time to have that argument.  If the thread had been, "I'm thinking about making a geek film" maybe then such an argument would get a better reception.

The other problem is that this kind of film has been done succesfully several times already, so it's no longer that funny or original.
"The difference between being fascinated with RPGs and being fascinated with the RPG industry is akin to the difference between being fascinated with sex and being fascinated with masturbation. Not that there\'s anything wrong with jerking off, but don\'t fool yourself into thinking you\'re getting laid." —Aos

I actually have a complete script for one myself, and held off on doing it for the very same reason. Instead we'll be doing a sci/fi action short.
You are posting in a troll thread.
