I'd like to start a petition to get a law passed that would do the following:
If a politician votes for a law that would make it impossible for a U.S. citizen without a criminal record pr record of violent insanity to own a gun for home defense, that politician may not be defended by armed security guards, nor may he live in a "gated community" or secured building defended by armed guards. He and his family may only be defended by the regular police with no special priority.
'sright, politicians who think the police are good enough to defend regular citizens would have to entrust their safety, and the safety of their families, to the very same level of protection they deem acceptable for the public.
1. What you suggest in your first paragraph could likely never get passed into law.
2. Paranoid much?
3. Do you game at all???
4. Shut up Kyle Aaron...I''l post up in the RPG section sometime in the next 24 hours. Had a surprisingly good game session this past Saturday night.

Politicians, particularly of high-profile, by virtue of their position in the public eye, are not "regular" citizens.
Your proposal, therefore, contradicts itself.
QED.

When I first read the OP, I thought you were saying there was a law that allowed only psychos and people with criminal records to own guns.
"I'd like to buy a gun please."
"Can you demonstrate that you are insane or have a criminal record?"

Thread reopened. This isn't rpg.net, fucktard.
So, you would let politicians declare themselves to be a special case that gets special protection (Dedicated guns) that the public isn't allowed to have.
That's called "Elitism" and it's not an American value.

Yeah, sure America hasn't got elites.
Who are you defending yourself against?

Are you high?
Ever worked for a corporation or gone to college? Ever lived poor?
Careful, she might call you a racist! Or worse she might keep posting this garbage!

Imperialist Canadian and poor people.
Truthfully though, I would not want to be involved in a social collapse like what happened in NO after the hurricaine without packing some heat. That said, I don't own a gun, because I'm a dumbass.

I'll just eat some kraut and hit on her.

As my logic prof was fond of saying, "What's wrong with elitism? It's not for everybody!"

Yes. Most people don't need special protection. Most people aren't high-profile targets for kidnapping or assassination. You're comparing apples to oranges.
Go back to RPG.net, sockpuppet. Oh, wait. You probably can't, can you?
Thread closed. Again.

Thanks for nothing I had to figure it out for myself. It was like a stone trying to learn how to swim.

We'll just pretend you didn't mention that Aos. I'd also recommend you keep any ideas of a similar nature under your hat and not spread them around, especially when they can be traced back to your name. We are everywhere, subtly, quietly, politely everywhere.
Shit! My house is surrounded by diesel submarines! What's going on?
Sorry, Aos. My warning came too late. Group Master Bates had already sent out the Smarten Up cannon.

The problem has always been that the people who make the laws, don't have to live by them. They're making laws for US, they're making money for themselves. The problem with governments is the same one with some religions- they've worked out the perfect way for other people to live.
