This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Wow, that's a lot of video.  Does he talk about when the next T5 upgrade is coming?

I always find him fascinating. While EGG designed more and more elaborate/awful systems, it was particularly because he lost the rights to D&D. Given the chance, he'd GM/play OD&D.

Yet MM instead of going back to Classic Traveller decides T5 is the way to go.

On some level, I think EGG recognized that his primary contribution was a simple, elegant system and a manner of playing, and that it wasn't his job or his forte to create the ultimate version of D&D. For good or for ill, MM thinks he has, all these years later, figured out 'the' Traveller system. Frankly they feel like very different games to me. While no one would ever call Traveller simple like OSR D&D is simple, it is not a GURPS 3e Vehicles-style hypercomplex game. And I feel like that is what T5 is. So I see it more as one creator who wants to have created two different games that address the same subject matter.

I can't shake the feeling that T5 is the result of a man who has lived through decades of people asking him out to do anything and everything in an RPG after building a flexible toolkit that can handle anything if the referee is just willing to simply make some choices. "You want a system that quantifies every thing that could possible exist and removes the need for you to make judgments? Okay, here you go!"

I think there's a bit of madness in this goal. But Miller seems happy with trying to deliver it!

Yeah, you'd almost think that different designers are like different people having different preferences, right:D?

Wow, thanks for posting those videos so soon after the show! Fifteen minutes in, and I have a brand new idea for a New Traveller Adventure that I want to run!

3LBB Classic Traveller is probably simpler and more elegant than 0D&D.

T5 was one of my most disappointing RPG purchases ever. I'd much rather run LBB Traveller or Megatraveller.

It has better artwork, too.

I'm looking for a Traveller TNE Lore Master. This video of this Traveller Panel at TravellerCon that I just watched was pretty awesome, and filled me in on many details about the MegaTraveller and later setting Canon, one thing that came up though, that I didn't quite catch, concerened the Zhodani expeditions to the Galactic Core.

I got the part where Marc said the Zhodani had learned from ancient Droyne artifiacts that they needed to go to the Core to find something, but I couldn't make out in the Interview just what they were looking for. Does anyone know what the Zhodani are looking for in the Core, and why they keep sending expeditions, because whatever word they used during the interview made no sense to me (There was alot of noise interference the recording camera microphone was picking up that interferfed with the Interview now and again.)???

Also caught the part where Emperor Strephon was on a core expedition himself in order to learn more about the ancients and "The Wave" when the rebellion broke out that brought down the Imperium.
