This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Ha, speak for yourself, I'm still planning a Tales of the Space Princess  or X-plorers game just like the last time I posted in this thread 3 years ago.

Anyway...

Playing: BX, just started B10 Night's Dark Terror

Running: a hexcrawl using QUERP, it's been sitting on my shelf for a long time, thought I'd finally show it a little love

Reading: O.L.D. I thought for the longest time that it was just another d&d clone so I didn't pay much attention, but I found out recently it was something else, and that it had a lifepath chargen system that I wanted to check out.

Also, Stellar Adventures, the sci-fi version of Advanced Fighting Fantasy. Only one chapter in but liking it so far.

Planning: See first paragraph. Want to run a golden age sci-fi game, going to call it Lord of the Rings of Saturn. Might use Stellar Adventures for that since it's finally out.

Writing: A D6 sci-fi heartbreaker combining the best parts of Mini Six and another system I wrote up a few years ago.

That's why I thought this might be fun to resurrect.

But there are a lot of screen names and avatars I miss around here, to be sure.

Baulderstone

Playing: Wandering Heroes of Ogre Gate. The campaign is Scoundrels of Daolu.

Running: An occasional B/X campaign with my nephews.

Reading: I picked up some issues of Wormskin in the July sale, and I am enjoying them.

Planning: I'm putting together a D&D campaign using B/X as a base with bits of rules from BECMI, ACKS, and other games mixed with some of my own ideas. I've been futzing around with this for months so I have given myself of a deadline of this weekend to stop tinkering with and actually get this underway and start recruiting players. I just spent two hours hammering away on my rules document. It's just for my personal use though. I'm not planning on releasing another OSR variant on the world.

KingCheops

Playing: D&D 5e (Planescape)
"Running":  The Dresden Files (only 1 session due to real life interfering)

Voros

Reading: Night Sky with Exit Wounds by Ocean Vuong

Planning: Shrine of Tamoachan for 5e

S'mon

-Playing - Nil, had been playing a weekly 4e tabletop game for a few months until a couple months ago. Played a session of a 1e AD&D Wilderlands text-chat game a few weeks ago that is on summer hiatus, should resume in September.

-Running -
1. 5e D&D Wilderlands sandbox with various parties from low to very high level (text chat, usually 2-3 sessions/week)
2. 5e D&D adaptation of Pathfinder Rise of the Runelords (tabletop, weekly, 54+ sessions in)
3. 4e D&D Nentir Vale sandboxy with Threats to the Nentir Vale (tabletop, usually fortnightly, 10 sessions in)
4. White Star Play By Post (text chat, couple posts a day)
5. Classic D&D Karameikos campaign, has been on hiatus but should do a session in the Hollow World tomorrow or Friday (tabletop)

-Reading - Got Traveller 760 Patrons, Savage Worlds Slipstream, and RIFTS 3 Galaxies at Leisure Games yesterday, mostly for White Star inspiration. When my term restarts I may have to cut back on games anyway.

-Planning - I had been planning a 5e D&D tabletop adaptation of Paizo's Skull & Shackles, but right now that doesn't look like happening soon. The past few weeks nearly all my planning effort has gone into the new White Star game.

In 2014 I would have been running a fortnightly high level 4e D&D Forgotten Realms tabletop game, occasional other stuff, but I started doing a lot more gaming from early 2015 to today.

We went to an every-other-week schedule with the Night's Black Agents group, and I am running a playtest of Shadow of the Century.

"It was all going so well until the first disembowelment."

Steven Mitchell

Playing:  What is this "playing" thing of which you speak?

Running:  A homebrew D&D 5E long-term sandbox.  Also a slowly moving D&D 5E game mostly using the starter set adventure.

Reading:  DragonQuest 3E.

Planning:  Maybe a DQ Play by forum game, if time permits.  A homebrew system playtest.

Nihilistic Mind

-Playing
Legend of the Five Rings, 4th Edition
(Was playing Ars Magica, then Torg Eternity, but that fizzled out due to in-party conflict... -_- )

-Running
Houses of the Blooded, heavily modified (working on Second Edition rules).
Dungeon Crawl Classics, as close to the book as possible (lots of weird, random things).
Dungeon Crawl Classics, in a homebrew setting inspired by Darkest Dungeon, Castlevania (Netflix Anime), Elric versus the Mythos, lots of player input, and all the weird magic goodness of DCC.

-Reading
"The Complete Psionics Handbook", as well as lots of DCC modules and Random Monster Generators. I wish there were good "Trap generators" too because I suck at coming up with those without help!

-Planning
Introducing Psionics into Dungeon Crawl Classics. Nothing I've come across works quite the way I want it to, so I'm hoping to come up with a cool custom thing for it.
Running:
Dungeon Crawl Classics (influences: Elric vs. Mythos, Darkest Dungeon, Castlevania).
DCC In Space!
Star Wars with homemade ruleset (Roll&Keep type system).

All my gaming has been temporarily derailed by the arrival of Baby #2, but hopefully I'll be back at the table soon...

Playing: hopefully joining a B/X D&D game next week

Running: Wilderlands of High Fantasy (OD&D) and New Era 1248 (Classic Traveller) campaigns still on hiatus.

Reading: 760 Patrons (2nd edition), The Judas Strain (James Rollins adventure novel)

Planning: Top Secret: New World Order (longtime TS fan, enthusiastically backed the Kickstarter)
