Traveller - Character creation followed by a startown bar brawl, then run them through either Death Station, Shadows, or One Crowded Hour.

WEG d6 Star Wars - The Star Wars Introductory Adventure Game. OOP and going for about $75, but still the best overall Ideal First Game and Adventure.

Quote from: Batman;966132Wow, you're not joking. That adventure is pretty amazing. Heck I love it for the weather and moon phases charts alone!

Glad you like it. I think it is one of the finest TSR modules. I've never read any Warhammer but considering the UK team went on directly from NDT to Warhammer I definitely intend to check out their early WH adventures even if I convert them to B/X or 5e.

Never heard of that one...do tell.

For Runequest, I like Apple Lane.  I'm not entirely sure why it works as well as it does, since on the surface it's fairly simple.  However, I've run new RQ players through it a few times, and it always just works.  However, I don't have a lot of experience running RQ much past such introductions.  Perhaps I wouldn't like it as much with broader experience.

It is a Martin J Dougherty adventure designed for convention play. Very fast paced and requires more problem solving than combat. The PCs are passengers and crew on a ship that is going to crash and they must try to save the ship, and themselves.

Quote from: RPGPundit;965202Pick a system, and/or a setting, then tell me what you think is the ideal first adventure to start off a campaign with it. It can be a published adventure, or just a description of how you think is the best way to start off the campaign.

Exalted, whatever system, the players start as heroic mortals in a backwater place. There's a problem with a couple Outcaste Dragon-Blooded that needs to be resolved. OOC, they know that their Exaltations are not forthcoming unless and until they manage that.
Those that die unheroically, might get a new character, but it's of the splat the Referee decides, and if they resolve it, they get to make an argument how they would attract an exaltation of the kind they prefer;).

In Tekumel, or any other Swords and Planet game, the players should begin as either Earth people, not necessarily of the current era, transported to the setting - or as locals from a backwater place that don't know the customs.

In any Ancient China game, no matter the amount of kung-fu, a relative of all the PCs is accused of murder and might get executed unless they do something, and the culprit is actually the relative's third concubine. Gets them to learn how the world differs from ours, how justice ain't the same thing to the point of having different goals, and maybe gets them acquainted with the World of the River and Lakes:D!
What Do You Do In Tekumel? See examples!

Cool. I didn't see that you replied way back when.
