This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

RPGPundit

Hey all, this is to let you know that I'm going to be doing a live Q&A session on #rpgnetchat TONIGHT!

I'll be interviewed by the venerable Dan Davenport (former RPGnet moderator, current theRPGsite contributor and the second-best rpg-reviewer in the hobby), but will also be taking questions from the crowd.

So if you want to ask me about Dark Albion, Cults of Chaos, D&D, my other games, the OSR, the Swine, OBS' appalling censorship policies and the totalitarians who push it, or any other subjects related to Punditry, then please come join us, starting at 7:00pm CDT!  You can get to the chat through this link.

I was at my weekly game, did anything interesting happen?

-My own opinion is enough for me, and I claim the right to have it defended against any consensus, any majority, anywhere, any place, any time. And anyone who disagrees with this can pick a number, get in line and kiss my ass.
 -Christopher Hitchens
-Be very very careful with any argument that calls for hurting specific people right now in order to theoretically help abstract people later.

I was Adventure League, so I will echo James Gillen, did I miss anything?
"And now, my friends, a Dragon\'s toast!  To life\'s little blessings:  wars, plagues and all forms of evil.  Their presence keeps us alert --- and their absence makes us grateful." -T.A. Barron[/SIZE]

Mistwell

I missed it too.  You can view it here.

I was going to ask, "If someone did a reasonably entertaining live video play of an Arrows of Indra campaign, would you watch it, and would you look for indications of how the rules are playing out in the videos, in addition to just the entertainment factor?"

chirine ba kal

I thought that it was interesting; I learned some new things, despite having the power cut out due to a bad storm right in the middle of things.

Here's the questions I would have asked:
1. In the Dark Albion setting, to what detail is the rest of Europe, Middle-East, Africa, Asia etc described?
2. What's the textbook definition of Law and Chaos in this world?  It seems to be different than traditional Moorcockian Law/Chaos.
3. How different are the spells from D&D standard versions.  Are there Fireballs, etc?
4. Are there any Demons/Devils etc statted out and are they substantively different then the D&D versions?
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

Unfortunately the Pundit made Dark Albion and Cults of Chaos look very appealing to me. This makes me sad because I know the local gaming group do not interface with game settings enough to make running this a satisfying experience for me.

Ooh, i missed it! How did it go? :)

(edit: Thanks for the transcript, Mistwell!)

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Well, depending on what you mean by that, Cults of Chaos could still be useful to you. You can totally use Cults to make up an evil cult to use in a single adventure, in just about any D&D setting.
