This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Details are here. The items that most catch my mind are the Beginner's Box and the game mastery guide (is it worth its salt in terms of advice?):

No it not a book of advice however it has a lot of practical tools of great utility that work well with just any edition of D&D.

Go here click on Gamemastery Guide and you can see what it gives you.

Damn...

That's quite a collection for little price.

I can't comment on all these books, and i don't know what's your attitude towards PFRPG in general, but from my point of view it's a good deal. ULTIMATE CAMPAIGN is very good sourcebook, it features plenty of material to use in campaigns dedicated to kingdom building. GAME MASTERY GUIDE helps you create and flesh out your own settings - not much of new, groundbreaking material, but still quite useful. ADVANCED CLASS GUIDE adds some new classes for those people who prefer "the best of both worlds" approach.

There's some good stuff in Ultimate Magic and Combat too, but as far as I'm concerned, these 3 books alone are worth spending 15$.

I don't have much of an opinion on PF, never having played it, but I kinda like deals.

I do like Conan d20. I might be able to pilfer stuff from PF.

I'm sure you've heard already that it has both strengths and weaknesses, like pretty much every massive RPG out there, so no need to sell you on the game itself.

From the perspective of both player and GM, the bundle is definitely useful and a few dollars isn't that much for what seems to be good selection of material for one of most widely played RPG. Not to mention that Paizo is often appraised for a good design of their books (this is, of course, highly arguable, but at least they keep same quality and prefer similar imagery and I know a few people who prefer it that way).

Way I see it, what you're getting is enough to enjoy PFRPG without the need to supplement it with more sourcebooks. The rest (and I've seen a few) are very optional and usually concern very specific adventures.

Are those books useful for 5th edition?
Battle doesn\'t need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don\'t ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don\'t ask why I fight.

Caesar Slaad

Do you have any interest in Pathfinder, to include wanting to know what is up, compare, criticize, etc?

Buy it at $1. You get the basics of the game and more for peanuts.

Are you playing Pathfinder in any capacity and don't have the books?

Buy it at the "above average level", which is hovering at $17 right now. I have all the rulebooks and I am still considering grabbing this just for the setting books and adventures.

Are you new to Pathfinder and want to get involved?

Buy it at the $25 level and get yourself the shiny beginner box, which has a nice double-sided battle mat and a bunch of punch-out counters. Be advised there is shipping on top of the $25.
The Secret Volcano Base: my intermittently updated RPG blog.

Running: Pathfinder Scarred Lands, Mutants & Masterminds, Masks, Starfinder, Bulldogs!
Playing: Sigh. Nothing.
Planning: Some Cyberpunk thing, system TBD.

Incompatible rulesets. HIGHLY incompatible. It'd require plenty of work to convert raw data.

You can always borrow some elements from PFRPG's fluff (monsters descriptions, setting, class ideas), but you won't find that many of such in 1$ worth tier.

I think that in your case it's better to consult official PFRPG SRD material rather than buy actual books.

I meant more stuff like, the campaign advice and the DMing advice.

Hmmm...

tl;dr: I don't think so.

Longer version:

Kingdom building part of ULTIMATE CAMPAIGN is pretty much system agnostic. It relies on qualities like INFLUENCE, LABOR and, of course gold pieces, so I see no reason to not include it in 5th or any other fantasy game for that matter. It's definitely something worth using - it adds another layer to your usual adventures.

I think it's the only part of this bundle that's easy to borrow, so this is hardly an argument for buying whole collection.

If you're interested, rules for that are available freely.

Thanks everyone. I think I might get this one, but I'm also eyeing the C&C bundle which I heard has some stuff with great random tables. I'm waffling back and forth.

It's too bad I have zero interest in Pathfinder.  Hopefully others will follow their lead.

S'mon

The GameMastery Guide has fairly little Pathfinder stuff in it; it does have a lot of great GM advice, random tables etc and I'd say it's definitely worth getting (as are the other Paizo hardbacks Inner Sea World Guide & Rise of the Runelords) if you run any D&D style fantasy game. It actually has a lot of OSR compatible stuff. The generic NPCs are by far the best Paizo has done & are very useful if you run 3e/PF (they don't use weird PF-specific stuff, so 99% 3e-compatible) - 5e took a similar approach with the NPCs at the back of the 5e MM but they are some use even so for quick stat lines & hit point totals if you want eg a barmaid or jailer.
