This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I suspect not, since he knows firsthand where that leads and he's got a family life going on, but my impression is he really is messed up in the head and he seems to have a habit of stockpiling weapons in various amounts so who the hell knows.

But writing and doing video blogs giving romance advice and whatever nonsense he thinks is fit to print, I've got no problem with him doing that.

oh on i know this one

it depends on the intelligence of the troll

really though it seems like you are convinced im a troll just because i necroed a few controversial threads which just seems silly
If your having tier problems i feel bad for you son i got 99 problems but caster supremacy aint 1.

Apology\'s if there is no punctuation in the above post its probably my autism making me forget.

Bren

Quote from: shlominus;820437nice try, Bren. you'll get there eventually. if you can find a statement of mine where i "mention a nazi in any neutral or positive way" you might have a point. until that happens, spray yourself please.
You can pretend you are doing this in a good cause. But in actuality the effect is the opposite of what you say you intend.
  • “There's no such thing as bad publicity.” P.T. Barnum (possibly apocryphal)
  • “The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.” Oscar Wilde
  • “There's no such thing as bad publicity except your own obituary.” Brendan Behan
  • “Succès de scandal” French for "success from scandal", was a Belle Époque proverb notably applied to Stravinsky's 1913 premier of The Rite of Spring

And finally a recent study by the Stanford Business School is directly applicable to the effect of your actions in this thread being sales positive for neo-nazis.
QuoteNegative publicity can increase sales when a product or company is relatively unknown simply because it stimulates product awareness.

I doubt I am alone in not being aware of this product until you brought it up right here in this thread. I'm sure wherever that neo-nazi guy is he is happier now because you have increased his visibility and stimulated greater awareness of his product.

I've never called you a troll. Not even in the post you just quoted.

But if the shoe fits...

PencilBoy99

Can we get back to how ubiquitous this stuff is on the Internet. iO9 tries to publish a neat article on LotR (http://observationdeck.io9.com/east-middle-earth-a-story-worth-telling-1691586234), then the comments are all about how prejudiced Tolkens work is, how there was too much white/Eurocentric. Just like the Strange thing the posters state stuff about Tolkens work as if it's fact that turn out to not be true. E.g. tolken did not use Orcs as a stand in for any real-life culture

I was expecting White-Wolf levels of racism, not generic Native American fantasy.

Outrage is online currency these days. The only thing it does for me is identify by name people I want nothing to do with.

JRT

In case people are curious, MCG is discussing the issue here on their Facebook page.

They'll either cave or not. I'm not curious about the reasoning or placating. Unless Monte is ballsy enough to reply "fuck off you ignorant twit", then I have no interest in the outcome.

kobayashi

I'll go with Stephen Fry on this one :

"It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so fucking what."

Nexus

Two things everyone has: An opinions and an asshole. Quite enough no one wants to hear about either. :D
Remember when Illinois Nazis where a joke in the Blue Brothers movie?

Democracy, meh? (538)

"The salient fact of American politics is that there are fifty to seventy million voters each of whom will volunteer to live, with his family, in a cardboard box under an overpass, and cook sparrows on an old curtain rod, if someone would only guarantee that the black, gay, Hispanic, liberal, whatever, in the next box over doesn't even have a curtain rod, or a sparrow to put on it."

Necrozius

Yeah I won't be making any RPG products that include inspiration from real-world cultures anymore. Fuck that. I don't have the resources to pay for consultation from the right parties.

My ethnic background is Welsh, Danish and English. Fat chance that I'll add more to already existing pile from those. I'll just make shit up. It's politically and sociologically safer that way.

Also: you couldn't PAY me to even MENTION skin tone.
