This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

A LOT of intetestig information coming out of the game convention called GamerHole:

Some noteworthy items:

From Chris Perkins:

"It is our intention to bring back the OGL. We just don't know when we are going to do it yet."

"We have every intention of releasing the books in electronic versions. But we don't have a date at this time."

"Policy for errata: must cause serious friction at the game table to qualify to be changed."

"Player's Handbook was number 1 for part of a week and top 3 for two weeks on Amazon. They've gone through "a few printings so far. There isn't a New York publisher that wouldn't pass out if you told them the number. It's impressive."

"We want a game that is solid enough on its own 3 feet. That stands the test of time."

"This year is all about the relaunch of the game. Turning us from product focused into story focused."

"People at Hasbro that never cared about D&D before, care about it now. Hollywood is fighting over it. The role playing game is the heart of D&D, just like comics are for Marvel.

"The role playing game is the heart of D&D, just like comics are for Marvel.  We are planning for the best. Coming up with story ideas for all kinds of things. (Triple A game titles, TV shows, movies.)"

"We want you to go hunting for buried treasure here. There's lots of stuff you aren't meant to catch the first time through the books."

"We are not pandering with our art. There is a strength to the male and female characters. And a diversity that has not always been present."

"One of my goals is to make sure 5E contains lots of humor. Remember the little b&w comics in the 1E books?"

"A great deal of my time and effort was spent to inject the fun that had been sucked out of D&D."

"In the Monster Manual, right up to the bitter end, the Nilbog was there. I was told it was dumb and to pull it out. #bitter"

"In the DMG there is an item called the alchemy jug. It's dumb. We got a little wacky with its new contents. Mayonnaise is now in D&D."

"The next story in the Realms after Tyranny of Dragons will be Elemental Evil. It will be very different in tone from ToD."

"Story after EE is already being developed and also different in tone. Alice in Wonderland is mentioned as one spark...."

"The FR timeline was advanced to allow reasonable time for certain elements to return, such as the Zhentarim and Harpers."

"Allusions to a giants based story influenced by a Shakespearean play."

"FR world content will initially be more focused on particular areas, likely tied to campaigns."

"Elemental Evil will be set in the Sumber Hills and Dessarin River valley."

"Not every story will necessarily include a player option type book."

"Consultants are being pulled in for each story as appropriate, including some old TSR individuals."

"D&D has world wide cultural penetration, though Forgotten Realms does not."

"A lot of material left out of MM could serve as the foundation for another MM. This would likely be done in house."

"The editing of the PH included the removal of the Chariot of Sustarre. It might return somewhere appropriate. Maybe Elemental Evil?"

They also held up the DM's screen, and a copy of the DMG.

That's truly impressive. Being a success with good sales is one thing; ranking in the top 3 is really an impressive achievement.

Sweet! All of that sounds awesome to me.

Regardless of what happens, as long as I can get my hands on the GM Guide, I'll be content. Anything else over the next few years is just extra gravy.

The more they can branch out with the brand the less need or temptation will happen for a supplement mill. That's a good thing for all.
Don\'t mess with cats we kill wizards in one blow.;)
