I started this mainly for those that have seen the leaked document to post their thoughts on it. I'm not entirely sure how kosher that is and I don't want to cause any legal trouble for the site or individuals so if its problem please let me know and shut down this thread.
Remember when Illinois Nazis where a joke in the Blue Brothers movie?

Democracy, meh? (538)

"The salient fact of American politics is that there are fifty to seventy million voters each of whom will volunteer to live, with his family, in a cardboard box under an overpass, and cook sparrows on an old curtain rod, if someone would only guarantee that the black, gay, Hispanic, liberal, whatever, in the next box over doesn't even have a curtain rod, or a sparrow to put on it."

Snowman0147

Well what did you find out?

I'd be happy to discuss this!

The game looks largely like 2E with some cool new ideas and much going off the rails in entirely wrong directions to me.

The new combat system looks cool. Like, actually cool. I don't know how it is going to work and probably comes with a whole heaping pile of unintended consequences, but at least it LOOKS exciting.

Charms are... well, from people who thought Overdrive was a good idea seems to sum it up. Enjoy keeping track of your seven different mote pools with sundry special conditions attached to them. Oh, and rerolling. Because people never complained about rolls taking too much time, now you get to reroll a bunch of them separately from the rest of the pool. Woooo. Mythical fantasy has never felt as mythical before.

vytzka

Oh and have fun remembering if you're supposed to count 10s only, 9s or 8s as double successes because it varies per charm. Universal mechanics, bitchezzzzz. Shit is SO bad on universal mechanics department.

Multiple Crafts are still in!

Linear/quadratic BP/XP is still in!

Wow, it seems things are really bad. Well, they're not AS bad. There are good things as well.

Um, Ox Body is supposed to be really good this time, trust us, there's no way we wouldn't know what we're talking about for the THIRD time, although it does pretty much the same thing except depends on Stamina for effect (so enjoy recalculating your shit if you ever raise it), I guess it's down to the new combat system.

Caste abilities work better now (as in Dawns are no longer fucked on this exact thing).

Everyone recovers essence passively, I don't know if it means death of stunting economy - as you still recover Willpower on stunting, probably not, but at least it's the right step.

Mass combat system seems less fucked this time, although it's superficially similar to the old one. I have always thought people were too harsh on it, and it could have worked fine with some fixes (no dude with a grand daiklave and superheavy plate mooching bonuses off extras with sticks), so this is kind of like that. Let's give it a benefit of the doubt.

Combos are supposedly gone and there are no rules for them, but some charms still talk about being comboed so search me.

Crafting projects make you accumulate something called crafting XP for extra confusion (no, it doesn't work like regular XP at all, I'm glad you asked) and there are three types of it from most to least valuable. No, that's one of the fucked up things, sorry.

Anglachel

Oh boy...

...i still giggle at the "system will be rebuilt from the ground up" and "system will be streamlined".

Yeah, right. I guess all the Ex3e Dev. team should go out and buy a dictionary and look up what those words mean

Here's hoping that after the renewed fuck up that will be 3e, they will finally see "the light of day" and do what they promised for 3e.
And i hope someone with real power over at OPP will take the franchise away from the current team and give it to someone with a) real mechanics skills, b) with people and communications skills, c) real mechanical skills and d) with people and communications skills...

...

...

...

yes, it had to be said twice :banghead: :D

So basicly 2E with minor tweaks.  Some for interesting while others for the worst.  If that is right you can count me out from this edition.

Yeah ! 2E with minor tweaks is not a compelling selling argument !

Well, I'd say it's 2e with major tweaks, but it's still unmistakeably 2e.

Some much for so little ! CCCP is a rather conservative IP holder. Exalted has potential but its system needs trimming. Putting bandages on an wounded game system is not the best way to fix its issues.

I wish that the Onyx Path would have more free reign on this.

I don't think you can pin this on CCP.  I believe Onyx Path and CCP owns Exalted.  Not to mention CCP gave the go ahead for a new edition for Exalted which means they expect some changes to be made.  Onyx Path had to use cunning to get the second edition of nWoD out by making chronicle books for a while till CCP finally cave in.

If the fault lies with anyone it is with the people that made Exalted 3rd edition and no one else.

Anyone who could do all that, to the dgree needed for a hypercrunchy game like Exalted, would make better money either in another industry, or at WotC (One of the few companies that can afford the level of vigorous design work needed for something as complex as Exalted), or on their own designs.

It isn't doable. They've already got pretty much the best team they could get.
one two FUCK YOU

HA HA HA HA HA!  Omg that is funny.  The developers are god awful at their job and I can't even believe you said they are the best.  The guy who does Stars Without Numbers made a better Exalted like system than these punks.  Not to mention all of his kickstarters are successful.  The developers of Exalted 3rd edition cannot even do one successful kickstarter.

Yeah, the problem is firstly hiring fans of the gaming line from the internet forums, and secondly the fans loving their previous work so much they can't move past it. It's like a second degree of fanboyism - fanboyism for your own work.

For money OP was willing to pay anyone to write it, you may well be right :p

I've already got marshmellows stockpiled, so I can enjoy the flame wars between the blind fanbois and everyone else the way God intended.

Well I hope your marshmallows are best before at least 2016!
