This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I think it's nice to do an updated one of these threads every now and again.

RPG Blog 2

Currently Prepping: Castles & Crusades
Currently Reading/Brainstorming: Mythras
Currently Revisiting: Napoleonic/Age of Sail in Space

Shipyard Locked

Playing: Nothing (settling for Diablo III)

Running: 7th Sea (seriously modified, still problematic)

(Re)Reading: Stars Without Number, Mong-Traveller, Rogue Trader, 4e/3e D&D splats, Pathfinder

Planning: Space opera based on 8 and 16 bit video games (trying to find the right system), D&D setting with the standard nonhuman races replaced with less common ones (raptorans, wilden, etc.) and intelligent magic items are more prominent.

Ravenswing

This was a cool site, until it became an echo chamber for whiners screeching about how the "Evul SJWs are TAKING OVAH!!!" every time any RPG book included a non-"traditional" NPC or concept, or their MAGA peeners got in a twist. You're in luck, drama queens: the Taliban is hiring.

Grymbok

Playing: RC D&D. I think we're mostly running through the B series modules (I know we just did Keep on the Borderlands) but the GM is mashing them together so it's hard to tell at times.
Running: Nothing, I'm a one game a week guy so I'm either playing or running, never both.
Planning: In the early stages of thinking about Skyrealms of Jorune using Reign/ORE.

Playing-Castles and Crusades

Running-Mini Six (using the "Rust Moon of Castia" mini-setting, I think this game is either in or close to its third year-though it is pbp) and Hero Force (a supers game from the 1PG line by Deep7), which is actually the first non-fantasy game I have ever run

Reading-I just started reading genreDiversion 3E from Precis Intermedia (bought it during their last 666 sale).  I'm kind of hung up on the fact that there is only one attribute for all things physical, and yet there are no less than four attributes for mental stuff, but I'm gonna give it a chance and at least finish the book.

I also keep trying to read The Secret Fire, but every time I get to the energy point section I just zone out and lose interest.

Planning-Not sure, I'm kind of interested in doing some sci-fi, probably X-plorers or Tales of the Space Princess.  Or Stars Without Number, but I'd have to read that through again, it's been a while.  I'd like to run Epsilon Outpost, one of the One Page Dungeon Contest entries from a few years ago, always liked that one.

Necrozius

Playing: Nothing - Also trying out Diablo 3.

Running: Nothing - Recent campaign crashed and burned because of my misplaced trust in the players and failed collaborative world building (never doing that again without a lot of firm use of the word "NO, that won't work").

Reading: Skullport (AD&D), Adventurer Conqueror King

Planning: Ruins of Undermountain (original) using Dungeon World system in a loose, slightly comical style (different group of awesomely hilarious players).

Pete Nash

Playing: RQ6 A Gloranthan campaign set upon the island of Giraine now into its sixth year (originally RQ3, upgraded to MRQ2 then RQ6). Savage Worlds Halfway through Daring Tales of the Space Lanes. Pathfinder On and off homebrew campaign set in the Forgotten Realms.

Running: RQ6 Monster Island, dialed up to 11! Oh and an intermittent Swords and Wizardry game for my kids. :)

Reading: Recently finished the forthcoming River of Heaven, but mainly lots of manuscripts and drafts for RQ6 publications. Don't have much time to read other stuff nowadays, save for research material.

Planning: Some unique Monster Island scenarios for running and handing out at GenCon and Eternal Con. Will eventually get around to running another Dune campaign, this time using RQ6. Maybe complete a more fully developed hack of Prydain or the Saga of Pliocene Exiles (both of which I originally used to playtest RQ6), or return to an RQ3 Arabian Nights game I first ran back in the early 90s.

Too many cool settings to expose my Swedish players to, not enough time to type them out...

"If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear." ― George Orwell
"Be polite; write diplomatically; even in a declaration of war one observes the rules of politeness." ― Otto von Bismarck

Gavken

Playing: Serenity campaign that is due to finish soon.

Running: long standing Amber online game. Running a monthly game of Airship Pirates.

Reading: Lots of bits and pieces such as City of Clocks, ASOFAI and the old version of Promised Sands in preparation for the new one.

Planning: Nothing at present since I'm already running two systems and don't want to max out too much.

Hackmaster

Playing: Nothing
Running: Nothing

Reading: Shadowrun 5e. I really like the setting and the meta of one-off runs/missions. Also I like the idea that a party of 'whatever' archetypes can still succeed (and avoid situations where everyone else refuses to play because the cleric didn't show up). I played some 4e a few years ago and going back and re-learning the system(s) is proving a daunting task.

Planning: Pathfinder. I think I'm going to run Rise of the Runelords to see how this new group will take to it. I like writing my own adventures, but I really have a hard time coming up with more than 3 or 4 sessions worth of material. After that it feels like a lot of pressure to be creative. Maybe running a pre-gen will eliminate some of that stress. I'm using Pathfinder because despite all of D20s flaws, it's still the game everyone in my group is most familiar with.

flyingmice

Playing: Nothing
Running: (Face to face) StarWars-ish
Running: (IRC) Victorian BloodGames II
Reading: No game!
Planning: (IRC) On Her Majesty's Arcane Service

K Peterson

Playing: Nothing currently. By June, I'll likely be playing in a Gurps 4e Star•Drive campaign.

Running: I'm running a Star Frontiers campaign using a mashup of a few published modules and my own adventures. Started the campaign in January, and it'll come to a conclusion in May.

Reading: Stormbringer, 1st edition.

Planning: With what little spare time I have, I'm putting together a Sword & Sorcery sandbox. Mechanically, it'll use a good portion of the Elric! rpg, with additions from OpenQuest 2e, and Renaissance.

Mr. Kent

Playing: Call of Cthulhu, playtesting Storium
Running: ICONS
Reading: Stars Without Number, James Bond 007
Planning: Stars Without Number (see my sig!)
I make the comics and arts! // Tumblr // DeviantArt // EnterVOID
RUNNING and RECRUITING: SWN: On the Perimeter - Clandestine Science Weirdness OOC // IC  // WIKI
NOW PLAYING: Gideon Sharp in Top Secret, Hanalee Hondo in 5e Basic: Livonia\'s Lament

zarathustra

Playing; occasional WHFRPG (2e I think) campaign. Intrigues within the Church of Sigmar and hunting down chaos relics mostly. Played in breaks from sc-fi/post apocalyptic campaign.

Running; A homebrew post-apocalyptic sci-fi game, loosely based on Swords & Wizardry Whitebox but heavily tinkered and reskinned.

Reading; a few modules (see planning) but mostly getting my first taste of Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser.

Planning; Swords and Sorcery campaign, loosely based on LOTFP; dwarves reskinned as Vikings, Elves as nobles (ancestral deep ones etc, hence magic), Halflings as Skraelings (similar to Hyborian Picts).

Dave

Playing:  Nothing
Running:  Swords & Wizardry Complete - about to hit one year for the campaign
Reading:  Delta Green, Covert Ops, Classic Traveller
Planning:  We'll be pausing the S&W game shortly to run at least one Delta Green adventure (using Covert Ops).  I'd really like to run either a Pendragon or Classic Traveller game later this year, but those are still in the brainstorming stages of planning.

Panjumanju

Playing: Pendragon 5th Edition, except, I keep dying and having to be other relatives. My last character was a lady knight. She barely survived a horrible battle then died in childbirth during that winter phase.

Running: A Dungeons & Dragons Next playtest tomorrow. I would have preferred to run it B/X, but I rarely run D&D so thought we'd all give it a good go.

Reading: Over the Edge, which I bought on ebay form the suggestions of this forum and I'm really enjoying reading through.

Planning: Amber Diceless using the setting of the 80s toyline and cartoon "Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light". I have high hopes for the campaign.
