This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Astounding Adventures! BRP pulp sourcebook

Which do you think you would choose for your Indiana Jones/The Mummy-esque pulp adventure game right now? Astounding Adventures for BRP or Two Fisted Tales?

Gruntfuttock

Because it is faster to run (slightly less die rolling), because the characters are not blocked if they don't have the right skill, and because the unarmed combat is fun, with a few fun options (not just 'I roll to hit him') - then for me 2FT delivers a better pulp feel.

But if you like BRP and enjoy running it, then I think Astounding Adventures would give a good game.

Quote from: Gruntfuttock;742752I also have only read Astounding Adventures, not run it. I reckion 3rik is on the button about its usefulness for BRP pulp games.

There are a couple of good reviews of 2FT on this site that are well worth reading -

Dan Davenport's review:

Pundit's more enthusiastic review:

As I'm a shameless 2FT fanboy I'm more with Pundit's view of the game, but Dan raises some good points. The main thing (only thing?) I'd change is doling out more cards to the PCs for an Indy game.

2FT is great, and I'll mention that I wrote that review well before I had any games published by Precis.

Its still, to me, the best pure pulp RPG out there; and can handle a huge variety of power levels very well.
