Quote from: James Gillen;665684At least Vampires have that "better than life" factor.  Zombies are slow, covered with rotting sores, bloated with gas and can only think about feeding themselves.  I don't need to imagine that, I AM that.

Hehe. :D

It looks like it will hit the funding goal but this wasn't one of those hot kickstarters that fund in an hour and reach a million dollars.  Despite the creator's name, this isn't going to surpass the FATE kickstarter.  It probably won't even pass OVA or Golden Sky Stories, recent successful kickstarters.

Hopefully, zombies are already played out - I was never a big fan.  This game was a few years too late.

Exploderwizard

There is also the hilarious Aaah! Zombies!. Its pretty funny movie about some people that get turned into zombies but don't seem to be aware of it.

The world as seen from the zombie perspective. Its a low budget film but good for a few laughs.

Well, that's Nick Frost, so he can get away with it.

I'm not aboard for playing a Zom, but I do want to see his chargen process in action. That sounds interesting.

Bump Chips sound like Savage World bennies or SpyCraft action dice which are good mechanics, but I will be interested to see what Mark does with them. His tremendous success with V:tM makes me want to at least demo this game.

The "Zom as Protagonist" has been popular in media for a couple years, so maybe Mark's game will find an audience.

I like some of the ideas, like the create characters from cards mechanism, but the system as a whole seems a bit cluttered with gimmicks and the plot/setting seems a bit "meh", to me. And it's pretty expensive with s&h'n'all.

We already have "Dead Reign", "All Flesh Must Be Eaten", etc. Actually playing a zombie means  violating the mythos pretty badly. And it's so behind the curve -- the whole zombie fad can't last forever, I expect Hollywood's love affair with the zombie movie will end with "World War Z" flopping.

Mark Rein*Hagen doing zombies like he did vampires -- to me it's like a 90s Alt-rocker coming back from retirement, complete with flannies and lank hair and grinding out three chords on a drop-D tuned guitar while howling throatily about the pain of having a heroin junkie for a girlfriend.

Mark dot-asterisk, dude, the world's moved on. I've moved on. You should too.

I'd put that on the back of my book.

Given the amount of unwarranted hatred perpetuated by TBP's kyriarchy, it'd probably even get at least 100 purchases from the Followers.
Furthermore, I consider that  This is Why We Don\'t Like You thread should be closed

Thanks! I didn't want to threadcrap by bringing up my own game but I've been reading some of the comments about how original the concept behind Rein Hagens game is and resisted the urge to mention I wrote Hunger years ago. Definitely makes for a great Warm Bodies game! :-)

That's World War Z that ....
... took a highly impressive global $118.8m (£77.3m). While it opened at No 2 in the US behind Pixar animated prequel Monsters University, the film's $66m (£43m) haul in the world's most profitable territory was the best for an original live-action movie there since Avatar. Studio Paramount said the film was now certain to get a followup.

....flopped?

hmmm....

maybe more like the Stones playing to crowds of 50,000+ from their wheelchairs on stage....

WWZ came in second place last week.  We will see how fast the stone drops through water in the next two weeks.

From what I have read it's an odd one as the reveiws have been scathing and so the film was expected to bomb but ...

It's a zombie movie.  What are movie reviewers expecting?

Spinachcat

WWZ is going to break even in the box office and make a serious profit afterwards. Like the Vampire, the Zombie is a perpetual cash cow. All you have to do is revive and refresh it every few years.

The formula is three parts: Initial Box Office + DVD/Cable/Hotel/Plane/etc + Long Tail so there is no question that WWZ will be gobbling up cash for years to come.

Quote from: valency;666281me it's like a 90s Alt-rocker coming back from retirement

Of course, that will be the next thing. We had our 70s revival and our 80s revival so its high time that fashion and music do a revival of the 90s. You can already see it coming with Portlandia.

Everything old is new again to the next generation.

Some of them wanted it to be a bit like the book apparently :)
