Quote from: Caesar Slaad;591500Epoch is a setting inspired native American & Mesoamerican myth and history. It's more or less "native tribes defend their land from psuedo-Aztec demon worshipers."

This sounds interesting, but I can't seem to find anything on it. Got a link?
"Tony wrecks in the race because he forgot to plug his chest piece thing in. Look, I\'m as guilty as any for letting my cell phone die because I forget to plug it in before I go to bed. And while my phone is an important tool for my daily life, it is not a life-saving device that KEEPS MY HEART FROM EXPLODING. Fuck, Tony. Get your shit together, pal."

I have neuropathy in my hands so my typing can get frustratingly sloppy. Bear with me.

Not an RPG, but you should look up the webcomic Vattu.

Well, this fellow reviewed the book chapter-by-chapter; here's his Epoch chapter review:

I might be able to share a bit more when I get home.
The Secret Volcano Base: my intermittently updated RPG blog.

Playing: Sigh. Nothing.
Planning: Some Cyberpunk thing, system TBD.

This reminds me of Sid Meyer's Civ series...  Which might make for an interesting spin on 'Kingmaker' in and of itself...

Iron Simulacrum

Age of Treason, my published setting for MRQ2/Legend is constructed as an ancient setting, drawing heavily on many periods of antiquity but a strong dose of late antiquity/Eastern Roman Empire in its 'iconic' region. There's a review by Pundit on this site, or follow the links in my sig for more.

You can also find an article about designing a quasi-ancient economy for RPGs on my blog as a PDF download.
Shores of Korantia for RQ6 coming soon

Oomph. My apologies. I missed the part where you mentioned it being part of a larger work. Thanks for the link.

The reviewer makes it sound pretty interesting. Does Crafty Games have any interest or intention to expand these settings?

Alas, I'm not aware of any. I seem to remember them saying "if there was enough interest". So far, I haven't heard any concrete plans in that direction.

There was a GURPS Horse Clans book, which whilst technically a post-holocaust setting had a pre-medieval feel to it IIRC.  I haven't read it in a long time, so I could be wrong. It's a tie-in to a series of books if that makes a difference.

GURPS in general has many tools to help you build such a world, with the Low Tech book and add-ons being a valuable resource.  GURPS Fantasy is a thesis on how to build coherent fantasy worlds with any level of technology, so that would also be a good resource.

One of the books has a Roman-base fantasy setting in it (Pax Arcana?); it's either Fantasy, Magic or Campaigns but I can't check right now.

I know you have discounted the 'historic' GURPS books, but they do all have a section on how to mix in elements from Fantasy or other genres, so they would again help you make such a world.

I wrote a D&D setting set in mythic Greece. But, extremely mythic, with centaurs and satyrs walking through cities and Zeus showing up to bang the local chicks. Historical accuracy was the last thing on my mind.
Memes are voluntary brain damage, short-circuiting higher thought processes with copy and paste, because these people view thinking as unpleasant homework and they\'d rather copy it off the Internet. They\'ve become a vehicle for regurgitating things they\'ve seen before, the textual equivalent of the winter vomiting bug. And about as fun to spend time with.

I know with the Legend of the Seeker, it didn't follow the books all the way and the 2nd season was better than the 1st one. Did you only watch the 1st season?

I have an idea of doing something like this for B/X. I'd re-skin the elves as  pseudo-Egyptians; dwarves as neanderthals; and halflings as sea faring baboons. I'd have a patchwork of neolithic and bronze age culture areas.

It will be years before I get a chance to run such a thing, though.
