This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

That is irresistibly cool, isn't it?

A lack of moderation doesn\'t mean saying every asshole thing that pops into your head.

I addition to what other have mentioned, there are well explained, good procedural methods for creating campaign areas/sandboxes, empires/kingdoms/etc., and the like.

The portions I like come across as a sort of "DMs Campaign Toolbox"
Yeah, but who gives a fuck? You? Jibba?

Well congrats. No one else gives a shit, so your arguments are a waste of breath.

Peregrin

Quote from: The Butcher;543884I'm pretty sure he's referring to the "things to do when you're high-level" that were the selling point of ACKS right from the start: domain management, trading, and other fun stuff (such as rules for magic-users to create monsters, and even better, dungeons to house them). ACKS is really loaded with good stuff that looks easy to port over to any TSR-era D&D or retro-clone.

Dungeon Keeper: Tabletop Edition

Although I guess technically if you're a GM, you're already playing it.
"In a way, the Lands of Dream are far more brutal than the worlds of most mainstream games. All of the games set there have a bittersweetness that I find much harder to take than the ridiculous adolescent posturing of so-called \'grittily realistic\' games. So maybe one reason I like them as a setting is because they are far more like the real world: colourful, crazy, full of strange creatures and people, eternal and yet changing, deeply beautiful and sometimes profoundly bitter."

Fiasco

It also has some really solid rules on operating a thieves guild. I really want to get this product but the publisher does not ship to Australia.

Not so! We'll ship individual orders to anywhere, although it can get expensive. Ordering through a retail store is likely to be cheaper; looking at http://gamesalute.com/home/gamestorelocator/ I see that there are Game Salute stores in New South Wales (Games from Everywhere) and  Victoria (Milsims Games Australia).
Kickstarting: Domains at War, mass combat for the Adventurer Conqueror King System. Developing:  Dwimmermount Playing with the New York Red Box. Blogging: occasional contributor to The Mule Abides.

At this point there's so much good stuff coming out for 0B1D&D and BRP that I just see a smorgasbord.  The frame for D&Dme might be DCC or ACKS or S&WC or whatever, it's all good.

It's like the D20 boom all over again, only this time with quality product instead of a torrent of shit I have to wade through.  :D
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans
