This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Cool, thanks for the link.

So you meant 1 super-continent, not 6 continents, IS ;) Nice map, Red Epic is an artist.

If continents have to be divided by water, yes - but I'm working on the basis that Europe, Asia and Africa are traditionally separate continents even though joined at the hip.

Anyhoo - Red Epic - Jared Blando - is very good indeed. And a pleasure to work with. In each case he took my sketches and notes and produced something really good on the eye.

Quote from: The_ShadowIs there going to be a pdf release?

Apparently yes, in about 3 weeks or so.

Nuts. I'm champing at the bit for AoT to get into the shops and was planning on getting it from Leisure Games and so scoring a book + pdf bundle. But if the pdf won't be out for another 3 weeks, then I'll have to wait that long.

Absolutely. I didn't want to imply that you are wrong in counting it that way or something like that. This is all a hang-up on my end ;)
And I meant it in a not-so-serious way, anyway (therefore the wink-smilie).

Ghost Whistler

So what is the Iron Simulacrum there to do, what will he mean for the pc's given that he's in the titel of the setting. He does look impressive (or she, I'm not Iron Sexist).
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

He's their overlord - patriarch of the emperor-cult (membership of which defines your citizenship) and Regent over the Empire. If they progress to Acolyte status in the emperor-cult, they may find themselves taking direct orders from him.

He is also the acceptable face of the divine and immortal Emperor - whose unacceptable face, his real one, might 'frighten the horses' if ever seen in public. The status of the Emperor and his pursuit of Ascension, the 'inhumanity' of the Simulacrum and its desire to be more like his mortal subjects, and the various factions that regard either Emperor or Simulacrum, or both, to be beyond the pale and representative of all that is wrong with the Taskan Empire, lurk behind the most audacious plots of treason. The PC's may well get sucked into these plots - knowingly or not.

Yep, it's fab. I've been working my way through it with a lot of jumping around. After many pages read I've found only two very minor typos. Impressive. To my tastes the punctuation could be improved and the logical sequence of the sections/information could be greatly improved, but it's not in any way impenetrable. I really like the setting and some of the touches (e.g., "...the spell inscription set up in Felsang so that the people should have the wherewithal to make the streets smell of rosewater." I'm starting to really hanker for extra material like details of the Tagun continent.

Question for IS;

Thurina is described geographically (and sounds quite nice) but there are no details about humans living there, only some beastmen. Can we assume there are no significant human populations? If so, why? Too hazardous to get there via Kasperan and/or the Outer Ocean? If few/no humans have been there, how do we know about it?

Great picture on page 108, but what are those creatures? Generic beastmen?

Thurina will probably remain a blank continent that others can elaborate on as they see fit. The obvious rule arising from that is a common sense one - there may be people there, but for some reason they are not in the business of reaching out to others, at least not so as anyone notices.

The 'creatures' on P108 are Soribisi spirit warriors, including npc's detailed on P149 and 160 - with spirit effects on.

Apologies for the necro, but the AoT theme this week is Resurrection:

Today I added a 4 page free pdf to the blog http://draconianpress.net/ageoftreason/ that provides resurrection magic for the Basat cult, and also outlines a Treasonous plot against the empire hatched by a devotee of the god of truth, light and life.

Other recent PDF's put on the blog include:

A summary of AoT Combat Styles
3 NPC character profiles with full stats
A fillable pdf form AoT character sheet
Strictly Courtroom - a courtroom drama scenario

And there's the lovely setting map you can download too...so if Legend/RQ or just a bit of gritty S&S style fantasy lights your candle, come and take a look at the blog, thereby avoiding any attention from a bored inquisitor filling in time by hunting down apostates...
