This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Mongoose is going to publish Stars Without Number. :jaw-dropping:

Tahmoh

I guess cubicle 7 had to many products to publish so passed on it then, or maybe they wanted it published before the date of the setting within came and went and thus invalidated the game :)

Lawbag

Well done in getting it released, but Id like some honest answers from C7 and MG as to why this happened.

That's groovy!

It may be groovier for customers if it's the 'Cobra' imprint, or whatever it is that leaves editing with a design house rather than with Mongoose.
And we are here as on a darkling plain  ~ Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight, ~ Where ignorant armies clash by night.

Good for the Stars without numbers guy! Awesome! I hope it's a huge success!

I wonder if they are going to make this a Mongoose Traveller compatible product or just print it. A short conversion guide might be a big seller and expand the market for both games.
"Meh."

RPGPundit

Well, good for them! I've been told my review copy has been sent, but I'm still waiting for it to arrive.  I wonder if the Mongoose version will have any changes, or if it'll be the same product?

The great thing about Mongoose 3rd party is they cannot put their signiture typo flood in, in the editing process.

Congrats to the author. Hope this change doesn't put folks off!

Yeah, congrats man. Does this mean it's being taken of Lulu.com? Also, will the price change? Will the PDF still be free?

Thanks- I'll admit that SWN's success thus far has been a great deal more than I had anticipated. A year ago at this time I hadn't even contemplated writing it, and now it's got a publishing deal. It's a real pleasure to have it published by Mongoose.

As for the questions above, some things can't really be discussed at this point, but I can offer a few answers. Namely, the current PDF will remain free, and for the time being I will continue to sell print copies through DTRPG. Once Mongoose starts selling, channels and prices on the print version may change. Again, the current PDF will remain free.

I wouldn't be concerned about editing issues on the book. It took me a little over six months to write, edit, and lay it out the first time, and now I have a bit over three months to sort out anything that will need sorting with the Mongoose edition. There should be plenty of time to make sure it's polished nicely before it hits the printers.

Good luck with it that you reach a lot of new players with the Mongoose deal. SWN reads like a good game and I'd gladly play a campaign of it and would strongly consider it if I were to run an SF game anytime soon. And elements of the game, like the world tagging, are giving me some solid ideas for applying to other games.
