OSRIC is now available in print from Black Blade Publishing.

The Old School Reference and Index Compilation, or "OSRICTM", is the retro-clone of the Advanced Dungeons & DragonsTM First Edition game published by TSR, Inc. in the late 1970's and early 1980's.  First released in 2006, OSRIC was one of the first retro-clones to hit the gaming scene and garnered a great deal of attention, both good and ill, from the larger gaming community.  OSRIC paved the way for other retro-clones such as Labyrinth LordTM (retro-clone of the Moldvay Basic/Expert D&DTM game) and Swords & WizardryTM (retro-clone of the Original Dungeons & DragonsTM game, or OD&DTM ).

This case-bound hardback release of OSRIC contains the latest 'version' of the OSRIC rules - version 2.2 for those that keep track of such things - and has fixed all currently known errata.  In addition, the Black Blade Publishing & Usherwood Publications imprint of OSRIC has these new features:

- Eleven new full page, black & white illustrations from artists such as Peter Mullen, John Bingham, Peter Fitzpatrick, Peter Smzer, Brian Thomas, Steve Robertson, Mark Allen, and Jim Holloway.

- A new and expanded, four-page OSRIC index, developed by Jason Zavoda.

- A new Index of Tables, also developed by Jason Zavoda.

- A heavy, 70# grade of interior paper stock, giving the OSRIC hardback a 3.1 lb. heft.

- Cardinal (red), 80# endpage stock, giving OSRIC an old school finishing touch.

There have been some reports of issues with the orders that try to go through PayPal. In case of problematic orders (mine was) you can contact Black Blade Publishing at tacojohndm [at] yahoo [dot] com (Jon Hershberger's, aka tacojohn on various message boards) and he'll explain to you how to proceed (basically you can order an item via the website and select payment with check instead of PayPal, and then you send the payment directly/manually to BBP via PayPal, just not from the site). You could also contact Allan Grohe (aka Grodog) if you prefer, I imagine.

Here's the two OSRIC hardbacks I own. The one on the left is the Lulu version, the one on the right is the Black Blade - Usherwood Publications version.



And here's a side view, again with the one on the left being the Lulu version, the one on the right being the BBP-UP version.  Note that the one on the right is thicker - this is what I was talking about up thread.



This next one has the Lulu version on top, the BBP-UP version on the bottom, so that you can see the two bindings side by side. Not a lot of difference there, except the thickness.
