This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Gen Con Indy Roll Call!

OK, it's just over a month away, so who's making the trek to Gen Con Indy?

I will be liveblogging again, both at this site and my site (in partnership with my buddy Schuyler), so start thinking of what you'd like covered!

As in the past, if you'd like to help defray the cost of (snort) high-speed wireless internet access for the convention for me, you can donate a few coppers through paypal:

o_clever_odysseus(at)yahoo.com

Believe me, it's much appreciated.  This has been a rough year, but I promise to do my best to make it seem like those of you who can't make it are still there through photos, liveblogging, and spending most of the convention covering what you want covered.

Here's links to our prior RPG site coverage:

2009 (where we scooped the Dark Sun announcement
2008 (where we liveblogged the 4e announcement )
2007 (a simpler time, it seems)

Aside from that, who's going?  I might have a tiny bit of crashing space left at the house, if you don't mind driving in early and leaving late every day.  You owe it to yourself to make it Gen Con if at all possible.  Like I always say, nothing like it in the world.

Coolness. Gonna be occupied with a plethora of Living Realms activity, I gather?

..yes and no. This time I am not going as an "official" DM; since my GF is going, I thought I'd show her around. So we're going together as players.

Here is our schedule. Amongst other things, we are playing in 5 slots together- but it's all low-level stuff- so we created an adventuring company that will sort of stick together for part of it. It's an open invite, so if you want to sign up for it, feel free.

I am running some games just for friends, sort of under the radar- just original simple little D&D adventures for fun.

On Wednesday (before the convention opens) I am running an adventure called Secret Shrine of Silvanus.

On Thursday, around 2PM, I am running Rubicon of the Feywild.

On Saturday at 4PM, I am running Lost Academy of Zoon.

And on Sunday, around 9Am, if there's interest (it's the last day of the convention, but our plane doesn't leave until later..)  I am running The Invidious Hive.

All of these are level 1-4. They are (as I said) an open invite. Let me know if anyone wants to sign up. We use text messages to coordinate everything (like.. find a location), etc).

I click on the 2007 thread - and all the photos have been deleted.
 BIG disappointment.
Its no fun without seeing the old pictures from three years ago.

I'll be there for at least Sunday, maybe Saturday as well if I can get a 2-day badge at a reasonable price.

I'm not planning on GMing anything, I'll bring my Spycraft stuff, and Eberron though, for maybe a pickup game or two. I still want to run a Battlestar Galactica / Razor RPG gaming round as well.

I'm going to Gen Con. This is my schedule thus far(please pay special attention to an invitation I am going to issue when it comes to Sunday).

Wednesday: I should be arriving at the airport around noon. I will be heading over to the convention center to pick up my badge so I don't have to worry about it on Thursday. Other than that, I'm free for whatever in the afternoon/evening.

Thursday: I'm signed up for games from 10am to 6pm. Free after that.

Friday: EDITED(I misread my calendar). If I don't have anything else to do, I'll probably be checking out the "Games on Demand" sessions that start at 10am and 2pm. I might use some of the time to check out dealers hall, panels, whatever. Or if anyone has anything they'd like to invite me to(hint, hint), I can do that instead. This day is mostly an open book w/ "Games on Demand" as my safety net.

Saturday: Games 9am to 5pm. Free after.

Sunday: This is my big free day. If I haven't had a chance to do so yet, I'll be touring the dealer's hall and art gallery and other stuff while I still have a chance. I do have one scheduled thing, though, thus the invite!

Invitation: I will be going to dim sum for lunch with at least one friend. It will be at the "On Time Seafood Restaurant," which is about 20 minutes from the convention center and has consistently good reviews online. I extend an invite for any geeks who want to join up, though I do expect anyone who commits to this to show up on time(preferably a little early) because the lines at dim sum places can back up kinda fast.

Monday: I'll be available most of Monday if anyone is still around and wants to do something even though the convention will be over. My return flight isn't until Tuesday.

Ok, so now you know my schedule. If you have any meet & greets, other events, or pickup games you think I might be interested in(that agree w/ my schedule, of course), or you want to attend the Sunday dim sum, just shoot me a PM or something, ok! Later, guys!

IF I go to GenCon it will likely be for one day only. I'm still investigating IF I Can afford to go or not.
There might be a charity jail there this year, I will not be connected to that this year. (Any conversation of that situation is for PMs or e-mail only)

This past 'fun' visit to ORIGINS last weekend turned intoi a comedy of Murphy's Law events for me.

ORIGINS at least has that $5.00 browser day pass that GenCon doesn't have. Makes visiting much more affordable.

Attending.

I should be running a couple of demos of Supernatural for MWP, probably running a Lords of Gossamer and Shadow demo of the in-progress rules, running something for friends, sitting in on a couple of games being run off-schedule, and playing anything that looks interesting in the dealer hall.

SowelBlack

I'll be there for my first Gen Con.  I'll be doing a Hexographer overview, tips & techniques, and what's coming session on Saturday at 11am.

I'm going for the first time this year.  Aside from some open gaming and helping my girlfriend with her booth I have no idea what I'm doing there.

My wife and I will be attending with another gamer couple from Fresno. It is the first Gen Con Indy for all of us. The other couple has been to Gen Con So Cal (now defunct).

I want to check out the dealer's exhibit and the demo games.

We are scheduled to play one session of True Dungeon and one session of Pathfinder together.

There are a couple of seminars I'm going to attend. We hope to get in some open gaming of some sort.

I signed my better half up for some scrapbooking and photography workshops. I didn't want her to get completely overwhelmed by the geek squad.

My wife and I are going to visit some friends near Knoxville,Tennessee after the convention.

Looking forward to it!
