This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

It's Free RPG Day. Happy Free RPG Day everyone. Various companies are Handing Out Free Stuff.

Even I am celebrating Free RPG Day, by releasing an RPG I wrote For Free.

I wrote a game called After Sundown. You can Bittorrent it for free, or Buy it for a dollar. Either way.

What are the guidelines for how this stuff is handed out?  I just came back from my local game store; he was giving away one item at random with each $10 purchase.  I thought it was just a grab-bag thing.  I still would have done it, but there wasn't anything today I wanted to buy.

It didn't seem like too great of a deal if you don't get to pick what you get.  Two guys who got things from it both got a PF adventure; one was cool with but the other guy runs the 4e game I play in- he's not into PF.

The store sets the guidelines. I've been to stores that leave everything on the table and you can take whatever and as many things as you want, others do random pulls, and other give you a choice  for every X dollars of purchase.

Roll a d20 and choose item on a corresponding list of 20 items.  If there is no more of a particular item, roll the d20 again.  :)

I just grabbed the Deathwatch and Harnmaster free scenarios out of a box.

Novastar

Grabbed the Pathfinder, 4E Dark Sun, Deathwatch, and L5R free swag at my FLGS this morning.

That's pretty good stuff, Frank. Very intriguing take on the WoD(s). Kudos!

I thought this year's selection was pretty disappointing and limited but then with the recession that's to be expected.  Of course Death Watch and Dark Sun don't do a thing for me and that may be the reason.

I'd love that Deathwatch thing, but my local shop doesn't even open on Sundays, plus he's a stingy bastard who never stocks anything RPG related, so fat chance getting anything out of it.

If someone wanted to send me one I could pay them shipping.

It should be up on the FFG site pretty soon, they already have some extra content for it up there.

Ghost Whistler

So free rpg day is when companies give away the promo kits for new releases/favourite games, stuff that's otherwise free anyway since it's there to promote new products and generate interest.
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

Daedalus

For some reason I missed it again.   I generally buy my games online (to get a discount) so I don't go to my flgs and see any ads for it.

I am going to try next year

RPGPundit

I've never really gotten anything from Free RPG day.

Of course, I get shitloads of free RPGs all through the year...
