This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: The_Shadow;378671Wow. I had forgotten how hardcore that shit is. By the way, does anyone else keep seeing these little pieces of tongue in cheek humour in it, almost self-awareness, nay sentience? HYBRID's author just could be pulling off one of the most elaborate pieces of performance art in blogging history. Either that or a he's a slightly less creepy Henry Darger. Either way, it's more interesting than FATAL.

The general consensus in the RPGnet days was that he was deeply mentally disturbed, and I think phillipe tromeur, the guy who used to host his stuff, had more or less confirmed it from his discussions with the guy.

Eventually talk of the game was banned on RPGnet, because the admins didn't really feel comfortable with people mocking/enabling the mentally unsound.

That's kind of what I was getting at with my post. It's not really a game. It looks like it's kind of meant to be a game, because that's how the author presents it. But it's just him writing shit down in the classic "word soup" style that's characteristic of severe schizophrenia. To imagine there's an actual "design" behind it is going too far, unless you believe your subconscious can design things in an organised fashion. It's just the outpouring of something which its author cannot control, and doesn't understand, but (poor bastard) has become one of the only ways he can really express himself. It's on the same level as the infamous Francis E. Dec "Worldwide Communist Gangster Computer God" rants.
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

Well, I dunno, most of us manage something better than blathering about loathsome games and flinging shit at each-other.

Speaking of which, I attached a copy of your damn GAMERS to your post over at the Citadel.  Are you going to be a twat and not follow up?

Wow, I'd never even heard of Hybrid before.

As to the it being banned on rpg.net by the modsquad, that ought to be considered a point in it's favor, if the only one...

Heh. Yep with RPGs here (if either of the above are RPGs), looks like we've started at the bottom of the pile and are working out way up. I think next up in general badness is generally considered to be Racial Holy War....

Then we're up to either 4e or Forge games :)

OK, more seriously, maybe Wraeththu or World of Synnibarr.

Hmm, thought occurs:

Maybe we or someone should create a list of rpg's that newbie gamers should be warned away from, and from anyone trying to lure them into playing.

I mean, there are new people coming into gaming all the time, and some of them may think that "world of synnibar"  sounds cool, or that "wraethu" has an intriguing name.

For the love of all the gods, newbies need and deserve to be warned away from some rpgs, and it's a moral responsibility for vet gamers to try and warn the new kids away from things like hybrid.

we could take a vote here on a list of games all newbie gamers need to be warned away from at all costs as a public service to the gaming community.

Kinda been done.

Not comprehensive, perhaps, but could be added to.

Also, I really doubt any of these games constitute a "threat" to newbie gamers. Probably 99% of what few new players are coming to the hobby will go to D&D and stay there. Nobody's gonna play Wraethu. Frankly I have my doubts anyone played it ever.
