This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Modern Floor plans

Does anyone know where I can get some modern floor plans for things like restaurants, houses, hotels, stores ets. I am running a mafia game and think it would be a big time saver if I could use existing floor plans, rather than make my own for every single location. Whenever I do I search though I either get plans that are way too technical, or a bunch of real estate sites. Hoping to find something with gamer friendly floor plans.

House and appartments are easy cos you can get plans for homebuilds or real estate sites that give you plans of appartments. Anything else is hard. Airports are the hardest though. For some reason they keep plans of airports of the web ... no idea why ....

A mate of mine worked in a central london property developers years ago and he copied a load of plans of shopping centres and appartments and the like for me and i still use these 20 years later as they are the best I have found.

Hmm.  Maybe it would serve you well to go straight to Google Image search so you don't have to wade through a bunch of realty web sites.  I found some pretty satisfactory results just using the search: floor plans (hotel)/(restaurant).  Let us know what you like/dislike about these two, so we have a better idea what you're looking for.

Alternatively, you could check with your local library and see if you have access to digital Sanborn Fire Insurance maps.  Now, those really lack gritty details, and are old, but they might be useful drive-bys and compounds. :D

Japanese real estate listings love showing floor plans.  For example, on this site, if you click through on "Rental Apartments & Houses" and then, say, Hiroo, and then on the "Details" for one of the houses, you'll find floor plans.  Some of them include sample furniture.

Thanks. I actually came across this floor plan generator which is kind of interesting: http://en.genzu.net/heimen/

I had success with used book stores, some of which had collections of architecture magazines, and architecture year books.

Also, last time I was in a local library they were selling older books that rotated out of their inventory. I was hoping for something about castles, and found a book on school architecture.
Swords & Wizardry & Manga ... oh my.
