Quote from: Silverlion;314829I had a friend who did some art for World Tree. They say they don't want to speak about it.

I like that friend, so I don't.

(I don't own a copy, nor will I, if that's their reaction to it. I do own Justifiers and Ironclaw though..)

I'm curious, was this a reaction to the art, the system, or the concept?

I'm thinking it was the final implementations of the concept. I think it was "furry in a bad way" to them, mind you, I don't have it and I wouldn't pry too much.

It didn't give me that vibe at all. I'm sure there could be many reasons your friend was not happy with the final product of course. But I can't see 'furry in a bad way' as being one of them.

I bought this game when it first came out, didn't do anything with it and then gave my copy away. Fast forward to about 2005 when I'd decided to try my hand at writing a system and I started thinking about a campaign I'd wanted to do using the Justifiers setting.

I went on Ebay, found some of the books (still need the CyberMedTech book and The Insidious Campaign) and worked it into the system I was doing. I ran a game for about a year and a half or so and it went smashingly.

The way I ran it, there were no alien races to encounter but evidence there once had been. Turns out most of them were wiped out in a massive galactic war and our heroes were finding what once had been colonies.

The thing I loved about the setting is that it had everything: Opportunities for crime and intrigue, big guns or no guns at all, politics and monsters. Even the magic rules they tried to kludge on the end of it were interesting, but the less said about them the better.

I tried contacting the guy who had the rights to the game a few times to see if it was still coming out and even asked if the rights might be up for sale again, but I got no response.

I still think about running a sequel campaign dealing with a robot uprising that the characters from the first campaign may have inadvertently caused.

Glad to know I'm not the only one interested... even if means that some of you are likely the ones who keep outbidding me on EBay for the books I lack. ;)

Peace.

Welcome to the site LordFluffy!   It's always great to have another Justifiers fan around here. :D

Actually: I got my "Cybermedtech" book first, during my big Cyperpunk fan-phase from a comic book store, of all places some time around 1994 I think. It was on a clearance table along with some weird manga style crap involving clone ninjas and nazis that I bought most of and I think Zen the Intergalactic Ninja...

Nothing cost me more than a quarter.

You may be jealous now.
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

Btw ... Justifiers is getting a relaunch. In German.

German fantasy author Markus Heitz (The Dwarves) acquired the license and is developing a new RPG, to be published in October 2011 by Germany's leading RPG publisher Ulisses Spiele (Das Schwarze Auge).

But he has more in store - scheduled for a May release is his first novel set in the Justifiers universe, Collector.
Heitz invited other German novelists (Christoph Hardebusch) to collaborate on a shared universe novel series which will start in December 2011.

A comic book series is planned as well.

If only we could let him know there are some English speakers who'd love it as well. I appreciate his attempts to do so--regardless of the language.

Mr Heitz is interested in a English publishing if there were anyone to willing to take the endeavor up.

quoit from a personal inquire of that subject to him
Right now, there only plans for the germanspeaking market, means Germany, Austria and Switzerland, but if there will be an american or english publisher, who wants to offer it to the USA and/or England, let me know.

Auuuuugh! Why did I take French in High School!

One question for those who've acquired a copy: What's in the CyberMedTech book. I'm expecting cybernetics and such, but is it anything interesting or pretty much the same as any intro to sci-fi cyberlimbs in RPG's?

It has some cool stuff in it and is worth getting, IMHO.  The CyberMedTech book covers these things:

Time line- The time line is expanded to the year 2316 to incorporate the events leading up to the inception of the CyberMed Corp.

CyberMed Corp- The book discusses the origin of this new Corp, details its Officers, its organization and structure, its base of operations, and its goals and strategies.

Cybernetics- There are specific rules for cybernetics and losing one's humanity, cybernetic surgery, and robots.  There is a list of cybernetic equipment and its cost and game effect.  Robots and Artificial Intelligence are also expanded here a bit as well.

New Career Class- There is a new career class called the EMR Technician.

New Skills- Three new skills are added, which are Corporate Law, Salvaging, and Scrounging.

CyberMed Shuttle- There is an alternate, and detailed, shuttle build for the CyberMed Corp.

Probably the coolest part of this source book is the advice or guidelines on creating a solely Player Character corporation and the sub-set rules for running a mini-game based on the Free Terran Stock Exchange.  This sub-system let a group track the ups and downs of a corporations stocks.
