This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Dont be an ass If everyone else can say something then so can I. And reading everything here it does sound like no one really knows what it happening to the setting.

Quote from: JRT;341649The so-called "occult" isn't as much as scary now as it was back in the 70s/80s.  Heavy Metal is now, in a way, oldies music.

Three words for you, JRT: Harry-fucking-Potter. Did you not know it will INDOCTRINATE your CHILDREN into WITCHCRAFT!?
We should buy 5000 copies to burn them, just to be safe.

QuoteThe problem is RPGs, thanks to computer games, are mainstream and we have a whole generation who grew up with them.  For some reason tabletop games remained "nerdy", while computers are seen as more mainstream.

That's because the former require you to do "nerdy" things like thinking.

I know, I know, only you can be an asshole. I'm sorry. Far be it from me to keep you from your calling.

Oh and as far as no one knows whats going on. Thats correct, it all about rumors, conjecture, and speculation. Its the "what if" being disscussed. Thanks for paying attention and reading for content. Especially before your first comment that esentially wrote off the previous commentors, and "tried" to set your self up as looking smarter. While not really having anything to say.

Screw you. If you can talk and comment then I can talk and comment.

Ronin

Never said you couldnt. I just implied your a trolling asshole that doesnt read for content. Thank you for proving my point. Oh and thanks for dragging up a five day dead thread to make that point.

Quote from: Koltar;340859Just a browsing of the wikipedia version of things from this article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greyhawk

FWIW, this wikipedia article is riddled with errors, so I'd be very cautious about basing any inferences about Greyhawk on its contents (in addition to the usual validity of "telephone" rumors from game stores).

The sky is green.  People are really space aliens with blue skin.  The CIA killed Elvis!   Ozzy Osbourne is really a mind flayer in disguise!

All this said in a gaming store or an ancient video arcade, and reported as true stories by an individual overhearing the discussions!

:worship:  :hatsoff:

On that note, some people will believe anything that fits in with their own personal biases and opinions, regardless of how false it is.  This is better known as the confirmation bias.

(Personally, I don't fault Koltar or anyone else for falling into such thinking patterns.  It's human nature to indulge in wishful thinking.)

You realize I wasn't the OP of this thread ? Pundit was the guy that started this thread based on a comment I said in some other thread.

Like I said , it was a somewhat busy day at work I overheard the guy saying it to other browsers/gamers and I couldn't follow up on it with a conversation. The particular browser is more of a normal common-sense type guy - like I said before. Thats why I wondered if there might be a smidge of truth in what he said.

Appearances can also be deceiving.  A normal common-sense type guy can possibly be a mass murderer, or a compulsive liar who is very good at keeping his stories believable.

How about Q's instead?  ;)

All CIA, MI6, etc ... agents are really Q.
