This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Seriously, if you have a question I will try to answer it.  What you take as condescension is just natural reluctance to dive into a fairly boring (for most people) and detailed topic that reminds me too much of work rather than a break from work.

I did read the exchange. You started by taunting Stormbringer about his lack of knowledge about the law. Then you moved on to pawsplay. During all these exchanges your posts were loaded with sly hints that you apparently knew more about the law specifically contract law than them. You were not as you claim saying that the issue was "pretty complicated" but rather they were obviously ignorant about contract law. Now since Mr.Stormbringer doesn't like to be fucked by anyone other than Mrs.Stormbringer, he called you out on it. When he did, you act all hurt and pissy.

Well you could start by not engaging with members of the board who are hostile to you like the way you did in this thread.

Regards,
David R

While I think you are exaggerating what I wrote to bias towards a certain perspective, I do appreciate what your saying.  Some of what you are seeing is me just giving what I get.  The two members you mentioned are two of the four members who have a chip on their shoulder regarding me.  If you don't believe me, ask them about it.  I doubt they will be shy on that topic.

So am I more harsh when responding to guys who are more harsh when responding to me? Yeah, sure, sometimes. Perhaps unproductive, but I don't think it's unwarranted like you seem to be implying.

Nor am I crying about it.  I'm just explaining why I am reluctant on these kinds of topics.  No matter what I say, I will get the same reaction from folks like the two mentioned.  You watch - it's the same reaction even when I am kind to those jokers.  Heck, sometimes it is a WORSE reaction when I am kind to them, because they take my kindness as a sign of weakness and try to exploit it even further.

Sometimes people get a bug up their ass about certain people, and there is nothing that can be done about it other than find a way to enjoy it, or ignore them.

I'll have to go with David R's interpretation.  I spend less time here these days because I am ramping up my own projects, but I could give a shit less about your opinion on pretty much everything.  If you want to drop a few legal cases by way of example, great.  If you want to explain the nuances of certain aspects of IP law and how those apply to the WotC Fanboi Site Kit, fantastic.  But if you are just going to wander in and spout off about how it is more complicated than it looks, well, no shit, Sherlock.

David R is correct, I don't much care for being fucked with by some drive-by poster gunning for an ego-boo.  We are all plenty smart enough here to understand that none of us are lawyers, and we are all just shooting the shit over a topic that interests us, and may even affect some of us.  No one is under the delusion that anything said in here will hold up in any court of law.  In a similar vein, however, most of us are also smart enough to puzzle out a few things without a law degree; enough to carry forth with a moderately interesting discussion, anyway.  As Mr Hopper mentioned earlier, critical thinking is a commonality we are generally not lacking around here.

So, jump in with the pertinent bits from federal or California state law, stand to the side and shake your head sadly, or depart the thread altogether for greener pastures.  Whichever choice you make, take your persecution complex with you.  Whatever triggered the uptick in martyrs recently is getting mightily tiresome.

I like the way Mistwell gets all self-effacing and pally when his clumsy attempts at sophistry are dissected and laid out for display.

"Aww, shucks, guys.  Did you notice that?  Well, we're all good friends here.  There's no need to call me out on my bullshit."

Ah, the entertaining spectacle of spineless appeasement.
