This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Hmm. I'm only on a 2 gig a month broadband package. Any idea how much bandwidth it takes up? Nothing like video streaming presumably.

Roger Calver

That depends on what your looking at I suppose, so far I havent seen any streamings other than the embedded links (so not showing as videos).

Drohem

Roger, can I queue up for the second batch? :)

A non-RPG friend sent me a link about Google Wave and using it for role-playing and I'm very interested in checking it out.

Here is the article.

Have you looked into the role-playing application of this?  I would be very interested to hear your thoughts, or anyone else who has looked at it.

Does it support sending images?  Can it do a virtual battlemap and token?

It looks like you have a dice roller program... er, widget is the correct term, I believe.

Any information would be appreciated.

Roger Calver

Things are still settling down but getting there.

You can use maps in Waves and people have already been linking Google Maps direct into Wave for tactical uses, this is the same as posting images, videos and text files.

There are a few dice robots around and random20 is one of the better ones, it allows you to use any dice combinations with modifiers.

1. What the fuck is a google wave?
2. If it isn't gaming related, why is it here on the main board?

Quote from: RPGPundit;3410981. What the fuck is a google wave?

Google Wave is a new online communications system integrating chat, wiki, forum, and other functionality, fully archived and editable by all participants in realtime, with the ability to embed images, video, and (I assume) sound.

Quote from: RPGPundit;3410982. If it isn't gaming related, why is it here on the main board?

Despite what Roger said, it is highly gaming-related as it introduces a superior and free platform for online/pbem gaming.

Here are some links about gaming on the Wave:

Yes Google Wave will have a lot of gaming uses and there already some games on there.

When I said not gaming related I was talking about my invites not the program.
