So, TGA, out of purely morbid curiosity - what were it's "indie-game sensibilities?"

Use of the d12?  "Conflict" not meaning combat? Inquiring minds, etc.  Now I'm curious, too.

edit:  Is "small press" the same as "indie"?  Was never clear on that...

Fucked if I know.  I am not ever sure what that means.  The only things that sprung out at me was the fact that each class had a very specific limitation and list of talents (some of which are quite bizarre like the Snake's ability to create a Homunculus, effectively dividing yourself into two characters one of which has to each the other to recombine), there was some specific role protection mechanisms, and the author mentions bangs in the "How To Create an Adventure" section.

I just enjoyed the obvious enthusiasm of the author, even if the game itself probably isn't to my tastes.  It was also very brief, which I appreciate.

You know there are systems that you 'get' immediately - they open up possibilities and scenarios, characters, etc spin around in your head -
well I want THAT from a game as well as being able to understand the rules pretty quickly.

The guy who introduced me to RBH (our GM at the mo.) said he was looking for an 'inbetweener'* game that lies between FtA! and Microlite 20, that sits alongside Broadsword but has a twist to it that suggests a less vanilla setting.

* we're gearing up for a long FtA! campaign and that D6 thread is whispering 'space opera' in my brane

Once upon a time, they were very similar.

Then there came a rather intelligent split, where indie meant "owned by the creator, and published solely under their control".

That division lasted about ten minutes, before indie started to pick up "Buzzword value" for "A game where the basic and traditional structures of gaming are messed about with in ways that might be cool and handy, or might be total rubbish".

Sadly, the buzzword value is beating out the content value.

Levi:  Thanks...that's sort of what I always assumed, but your explanation makes more sense. :)

It certainly is a game that's being shilled.
