Is this THE Luke Crane, who´s mocking Warhammer players?

While roaming the local DBA-boards, I found this:

1) This is a mockumentation, right?
2) Is it the one and the same Luke Crane that hates RPGs?

1) I was only able to suffer through the first three minutes, but it struck me as dead serious.

2) He hates RPGs?

3) Thank the lord for good friends, or, failing that, commercial painting services.

I´m abit confused by the mockery- In the part where they actually game, it´s hard to believe they are serious. I advise you to watch it.

Sett -- I love the video links, but if you could add some more comments beyond "watch it" it would be extra cool.

Settembrini

Well, I´d say they are mocking Warhammer players as munchkins.

Why do you think they're mocking anyone?  :confused:

When I played Warhammer 40K we were WAY more over-the-top than that.

Settembrini

So..."finding loopholes in the rules to gloat in front of your enemy!" is the point in playing Warhammer?

For reals?

EDIT: So the snobbery the DBA guys field against Warhammer people is valid?

I don't know if it's the point but many of our 40K games were won by one of us using some "cheese" bit of rule loop-hole, that we'd all agree not to use in subsequent games.

* Harlequins can have 2 close combat weapons.  A plasma pistol is a close-combat weapon.  It has following fire (keep rolling to hit enemies until you miss one) but the downside is that you can only attack with it once every other turn.  When a Harlequin uses *2* they can make following fire attacks EVERY TURN.  (just because the model shows a sword and a pistol, the rules didn't say you could have 2 pistols! :D)

* When you turn some of the grenades into off-board support artillery, they're devastating.  When your Blinding Flash grenades area of effect covers the entire board... and all your troops (Imperial Guard) have visors and all your opponenets (Orcs) don't.  You blind ALL your opponent's army!

* Radiation...

* Haywire Missiles...

* etc etc etc

What's a DBA guy?

See, I KNOW why I'm going to play Stargrunt, not Warhammer.

I think it's dead straight (if made with loving mockery) and Luke is a D-O-R-K. But he makes good RPGs so I'll forgive him.

"I lose my temper when I lose."
"There's a spirit that possesses us all at one point or another...that we come to embody...it's made manifest through us...and we call him 'Destructor'."

Heh heh.

You're kidding, right?  For Warhammer, what you see in the video is positively sedate.

Whatever, man.  If that's validation for you, have at it.

I have a question based on sincere and utter Warhammer ignorance:

Given the video, does terrain and shit not matter in Warhammer except as scenery?

Do you just kinda walk the armies up to each other and proceed to roll some dice?

Some units can take more advantage of terrain than others.  Wood elves for example.  Some other armies... not so much.

We used to heavy-metal-growl stuff like "DE...STRUC...TION!" and point in each others faces and laugh when we'd take out a major unit.  :haw:

We were usually listening to Carcass, Bolt Thrower, or sometimes something mellow like Ministry during our games... so that might have been part of it.

Good times. :haw:
